So i been ask so many times by almost everyone whos knows me. who do you think is better ryu or little mac one are the reason are i dont try ryu at all and the only try i had with ryu is at a friend house but i got like 20 matches with ryu on the 3ds and wii u but the least i can do by not anwser is by comparing. little mac is a heavyweight and can to damage with some quick side smash and can side b back to the edge but the bad thing is his air game DUH but can do damage and lauch quick. ryu is like little mac dad and has great combos and has bad air game but launches easily and kills fast and furiously

Ryu is a better choice.
Ryu:
  • movement options by utilizing his D-Special (Also has 1 Hit of Armour)
  • Better Recovery (D-special, S-Special, and Up-special)
  • Projectiles
  • Shield Breaker (S-Tilt Hold is a shield breaker that's can be tricky to avoid)
Ryu overall is more "Flexible". Little Mac don't have as much approach options as Ryu, and this makes Little Mac more predictable.

The only con on Ryu is how complex his character is. To master him, you need lots of practice.

Don't forget that when you use the Street Fighter inputs his moves are stronger and they give Ryu brief invincibility. Learning the SF inputs isn't hard (it tells you on Ryu's customs screen how to do it), but it certainly requires a lot of practice. Landing the Shoryuken for the kill is 10 times more satisfying when you land it with the Street Fighter input.

Ryu.

Ryu definitely! He is exactly Like little mac but: He has a incredible Recovery. And soo many recovery options! Well not soo many! Lol And his combo game is great. I dont have him. But this is just what I know. Also his Special is just awesome. This combo kills very early: Special to Up B.

Funny you put them both together. I think Ryu is a lot like Little Mac in terms of his weaknesses and potential as a whole. Both characters have special moves/inputs that counter certain projectiles. Both characters have strong hits and little combos here and there. Ryu just has a better recovery in general but imo his vertical recovery isn't great perhaps because the fight games he's in doesn't require it. Ryu's projectile is useful but not perfect. It is still outclassed by the simpler Mario and Luigi fireballs and in the general matchup both are easily punishable and not always the best option. Both have super armor however Ryu's is very flexible and can be timed differently for different reads and punishes. Little Mac's super armor is short lasting and punishable similarly to Ryu's but is more durable than Ryu's. But I say Little Mac is better. He's faster. Harder to punish. Easier to KO with, and has a counter to boot. You just can't beat Little Mac.

Ryu's recovery in comparison to Little Mac's is much better. One basic example of this is if an opponent hits you away while you're trying to recover, using Ryu, there is still a big chance for you to still get back onto the stage (one of the biggest factors being if you still have your second jump). Shrimp Mac on the other hand, there is little to no hope, especially if you're underneath the 'ledge line' as I call it. :p Of course, these two characters offer two different styles of game play. It's simply player preference.

Lets just say If Lilttle mac had a great Recovery he would be better than Ryu

Let's just say if Little Mac could be knocked off the stage Ryu would be better than Little Mac. *subjective statement*

Should I feel bad that I would still go with Little Mac? lol.

Not at all. Little Mac is my go-to "I don't feel like trying right now" character. Win or lose, he's basically mindless and I like that sometimes when my main is Link and playing him well involves keeping up a constant wall of hitboxes. Being able to just press buttons sometimes is nice.

Though I'm not too keen on the Little Mac/Ryu comparisons. They're pretty different characters and I don't see similarities at all besides fists and early kills. But still: Ryu is a character that needs massive time investment to be good and is ultimately more rewarding, while Mac is fun, but effortless and is, at the skill ceiling of both characters, less usable.

I have a question for all of you, have any of you played street fighter? Well this is a whole new question now because ryu is better then "loves big mac" or it is a tie but if you play ryu with street fighter controls little Mac would have a slim chance but if you play competitive smash and street fighter little Mac has no chance in the galaxy, why? My friend loves and plays street fighter and he taught me all the original controls and smashed and yes, I got my butt kicked.

i would say ryu because his attacks are more creative and has many combos to use in the game too. i really enjoy using his hadouken. Also ryu can attack other enemies harder when you hold the buttons longer. I use ryu everytime i play smash bros. Nintendo really put a lot of work into creating ryu as a fighter.

Ryu is the one to go, little mac is just not that good in the air while ryu has a lot of recovery, especially using side-b and up-b if you are far away from the stage, his down-b has a super armor and can be moved in both direction (enemy behind you? move the circle pad to the other side while holding down-b and ryu will hit the opponent and using the dash cancel is useful especially if you are doing a shoryuken (not the up-b, the actual street fighter shoryuken, shoryuken does like 15 damage while doing the original move from street fighter does 18 damage and a huge knock back, i have to master it and it took a lot of time since i was never good with fighting games that does those inputs.)
