Well, we already knew that SEGA was interested on buying Atlus, but the big surprise is that SEGA parent company (SEGA SAMMY) bought Atlus parent company (INDEX Corporation), or 14 Billion Yen (around $141 million).

This is already confirmed by SEGA itself, with this press release:

The Company believes that transfer of Index's operations to Sega will create synergies, on the grounds that the deal will enable the Company to:

(1) gain access to prominent IPs in the home video game software, through which the Company can expect to achieve steady flows of revenue;
(2) expect further facilitation of revenue growth for the PC Online Game Business and Content Business for Smart Devices operated by Sega and Sega Networks Co., Ltd. by exploiting acquired prominent IPs and
(3) maximize the value of acquired IPs by effectively deploying them in the Pachislot and Pachinko Machines segment, Amusement Machine Sales and Amusement Center Operations segments.

That means we can see a new Atlus-SEGA-Nintendo trailer collaboration of the next game Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem?

What do you think about this?

Sega is my favourite developer of all time and almost always has been apart from Capcom with their Resident Evil and Devil May Cry series and Namco with Tekken. But I can't be happy over this because in recent years Sega haven't thrown a bone to their non-Japanese fans and haven't localized some great games even though so many fans supported the games and said they'd buy the US/EU release as well to support the franchise. And the franchises they didn't localize games from weren't small-time at all. I honestly think that with Sega's attitude recently they might also not localize some of Atlus's big titles. That'll be upsetting.

Well, I feel the same, but this time we have a big hope: Nintendo...
Now, there is a big chance than Persona 5 will be a Wii U exclusive, for example, and it come here.

I'm not a fan of either company xD I may have a soft spot for SEGA but that's only for the SEGA genesis system. xD Still, a great news, maybe this will open up opportunities for new crossovers or something.

I'm not a fan, but SEGA is better than Sony, Nintendo or inclusive thirds parties like Square-Enix...

are you kidding me? No game publisher is better than Nintendo. Do you even know the amount of fans Nintendo has? An Xbox fan and a Sony fan both have soft-spot for Nintendo, that's the reason Wii topped both consoles in terms of sale.

I was talking about SEGA was the best (or better than) option for buying Atlus, not in general... :facepalm:
