Is anyone else watching this awesome anime?

"From Wit Studio, the creative force behind Attack on Titan, comes a brand-new action series—Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign! After a mysterious virus wipes out ninety percent of humanity, vampires emerge from the recesses of the earth to enslave mankind, treating them like livestock. After growing tired of donating blood in exchange for protection, 12-year-old Yuichiro Hyakuya and his best friend Mikaela Hyakuya plot an escape along with the other orphans. After being the only successful runaway, Yuichiro joins the Moon Demon Company, an extermination unit of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army dedicated to killing off vampires."

I was skeptical because of it being a vampire anime, but I'm so glad I decided to watch it. It's a very good show, and the first episode was very emotional. I really recommend it if you haven't checked it out already.

Thoughts?

Hey if it's by the people who made Attack on Titan it has to be good! I haven't found a Vampire anime that I liked...I tried getting into Vampire Knight but I couldn't stick with it. It looks good too! Thanks for posting this now I have something to watch over the summer! :D

I saw the 1st episode, it starts off with a massive "shock factor" death sequence, it has not one, but two timeskips, lazy exposition dumps, senseless character victimizing and then had more "shock factor" deaths for forced melodrama. Honestly, the series seems pretty mediocre to me, I don't think I'll continue watching since I doubt it will be getting any better, it's writing certainly isn't convincing me it will...

After seeing this thread, I decided to give it a shot and I finished it in 2 days >.< (I paused for a day and continued on the next day).

I loved it :D

The beginning reminded me a bit of Twilight tho,

There were some unexplained things I wanted to know while watching the anime but my questions were mostly answered in the later episodes. I'm still a bit confused about one thing :

Kurl making Mikaela a vampire. I mean, why? She said she couldn't afford to not turn him. I have a feeling it's somehow related to Yuuichirou with the non-human part of him, but how did the humans know? Was it because of the things he went through (beating the demon inside the axe, etc) while trying to get into the demon force group? This will probably be answered in season 2 >.<

Hehe I'm not gonna spoil it for you, but you should read the manga! it answers that...unless you'd prefer to wait for season 2 :3
hmm has anyone here actually read the manga? The latest chapter is really intense >.<

First episode: "ctrl+c Shingeki no Kyojin ctrl+v Owari no Seraph"
School arc: Wit should have compacted this. They elaborated the Shingeki no Kyojin arc (which originally didn't even name the instructor) but seemingly they just let this arc overflow your capacity for boredom. It's literally half of what they put on television before they went into the actual "first arc" so to speak.
Vampire exposition ep: "okay that was informative now get to the show"

The end of the season feels like the start of the show, and even then they make sure you get a boring final ep. They stuffed too much melodrama and "WE MIGHT DIE GOTTA BE CAREFUL" into this anime. When the second half of what's officially the first season comes out, I will watch it -- but really, it better be at least as intense as the Shinjuku arc. This could be due to the fact they seem to be stuffing entire episodes with single manga chapters, and weekly chapters at that.

Banks far too much on their Shingeki no Kyojin fame, like how Trigger's only thing I've liked so far has been the one that was similar to Gurren Lagann. My affection for dark fantasy is probably what makes me watch this. The least they could do is shorten it or add extra content, as despite the fact presentation is an obvious focus of Wit after their present-and-cliffhang style from Shingeki no Kyojin (basically everything I praised in the PG-13 review I wrote), and I like cliffhangers because they add anticipation and suspense, but the cliffhangers in OnS were subpar at best. Perhaps their tremendous job at SnK was just coincidence, and we're placing too much criticism on an anime that no longer enjoys hyperbolic advantages because no one really cares about Wit unless they're making SnK S2 or something excellent.

Apparently S2 has even more exposition though, so let's cross our fingers and hope Wit realizes they did damage to their reputation here.
