Should i buy FE:Fates?

i've been wanting to try some of the newer fire emblem games for a while now, and fates seems like a good place to start. I've only played the first 2 FE games in america, but i still wanna try the series some more. my only problem is that my dad only limits me to a few new games per year, so if i buy this, i won't be able to get triforce heroes when it's released .-. any thoughts on what i should do?

well i may be biased because i do not really like Zelda......well not as much as FE anyway but i'd say get fates the story and character development in fates is going to be amazing and fire emblem in general is a very well rounded out series, it is slower paced than zelda is in terms of action and the strategies may or may not be more challenging than Zelda's but the game constantly keeps you engaged it allows for customizing your unit to make your perfect being and much more....

Fates will get you to love fire emblem if you didnt already do so......but if we are talking about a starting point only FEA is probably your best bet.

You should definitely go with Fates rather than Zelda. Zelda might be fun short term, but long term I'm pretty sure you'll remember fates a lot more. I've personally played Awakening about four times and with the inclusion of two separate stories (although I'm not entirely sure if it'll be two separate games here like in Japan), I'm sure that it'll be a lot more enjoyable. The only real way I can see Triforce Heroes being better is if you have a group of people that you play with regularly. In that instance though, the enjoyment would mainly stem off your interactions with friends.

But awakening has Chrom so you should just get that.

I'd get Fates, it has online multiplayer and is a Fire Emblem game, theres no reason to not get it xD
And as papoose said, youd probably play Fates more unless you're just a hardcore Zelda fan.

Fates ain't coming out until next year. I'd say get Triforce Heroes to tide you over. Or preorder Fates so you can get it day 1.

I'd go for Awakening. You've got a while until Fates, so check out Awakening until then and see if you like it. If so, go for Fates:Birthright since it's easier and you're new, and then Fates: Conquest since it's harder

This actually inspired me to actually try playing an FE game for the first time in my gaming life. (although some people "disagree" with certain choice content. but I'll play it anyhow, they're only opinions.) But for you... I'm not sure how you feel of the new content but as an FE player, you should certainly look into it.

In terms of fates vs TH, i think you should get TH because we still don't know when fates is coming out. TH should be a long enough play until you get another game. Fates might be around the time you finish so it could match with the timing. In terms of Fire emblem in general. I started with Awakening and I believe that is the best way to start. It was amazing in every way and i think it's more appealing than fates which has some undertones which some people may not like.

If you have friends with TH, I would def get that because it seems like such a fun game in multiplayer but if you are playing alone, I'd get awakening or wait til fates unless you don't mind playing campaign.
