i now own a wii u so is the hd version worth it? i actually played the original gamecube version and stopped at the foorsaken fortress and quit playing. seeing as how i cant play my gamecube game version anymore i was wanting the hd remake. im sure i can net 50ish dollars on ebay and easoly swap the 2 and just download it digitally along with smash. but if i do actually get it would i be a waste of time getting the hd version or trying to dig out my old wii to play it?

HD Version (the 2015 remake) has a significant number of changes, all of which I am too lazy to list. It's arguably a bit easier since you have to collect less pieces or whatever they were called in this version.

IMHO best feature is the selfie feature

The HD Version is much improved from the original Gamecube version. Along with the new revamped graphic quality there are many features that make the gameplay much simplier. For instance, as sailing to some became tedious throughout the game in the gamecube version the HD version includes a sail that will permit you to sail much faster. Speaking of tedious they toned town the triforce shard search towards the end of the game to speed it up a bit as it was tedious and boring. But the gamecube version alone is a fantastic game within itself, but the Wii U version does have many improvements, just find a way to play this fantastic game :)

Yes I would really suggest this game because it is a pretty amazing game and compared to the old version , the HD remake really makes everything feel so new even though you played it . I am sure you will like this game as it improves a few many things that make the game so well . It is very refreshing to play the remake , especially since you really want to play it again. Go for it :D

ok ill try to get a eshop card later today i only got to the forsaken fortress so i havnt played that much. iv heard so many good things so im sure my purchase wontgo to waste:p

Yeeees. Definitely get it :3

They added so many neat tweaks and little fixes.

  1. Using the Wii U Gamepad is so easier to switch weapons. The maps and the interface is designed amazing <3 I think it added to the enjoy-ability of the game because you weren't constantly digging through menus to switch menus or look at a map.
  2. They made sailing faster. They Made it faster via a sail you get that is swift :3 ( It won't take a year to sail to another island now )
  3. The graphics are so beautiful, everything feels alive. It's all colorful and beautiful, like a magical unicorn land.
  4. If you're considering getting you're old version of the game out, then don't do it xP. This new one makes everything better >.< I don't think they messed up anything in this game.
  5. Less Triforce pieces to collect, but the game is still a challenge. They simplified it, but there's still a lot to do.
So, in the end;

Pros:
-Graphics
-Gameplay
-Replay Value
-Ease of Use

Cons:
-Tetra's a bully
-Price? Idk :p

Definitely worth it, IMO. Just the graphics themselves would be worth it to convince me to buy the game.
The touchscreen really helps speed up the equipping of items and weapons. And, not to mention the HD version has faster sailing, like rawrrie pointed out.
(I found it to be slow in the GameCube version, IMO)

Definitely get the Wii U remake. I have seen awesome changes from the original to the remake such as:
Sailing
  • Can now acquire the Swift Sail in the Windfall Auction.
  • Swift Sail doubles sailing speed and forces wind to always be at your back.
  • Getting hit while in your boat doesn't knock you off of it unless you take an excessive impact.
Pictographs
  • Can now take up to 12 Pictographs.
  • No longer need the Bug from the Forest Haven to finish the Deluxe Pictobox quest. It is upgraded automatically after you do Lenzo's three picture requirements.
  • Each photo now gets a rating the moment you take it, as opposed to when you arrive to exchange it.
  • Pictographs can be submitted multiple times in one visit to be exchanged for figurines.
  • Can download/submit Pictographs using Tingle Bottles, making collecting the tough/missable ones MUCH easier. Also, you get to keep your photos if you send them via Tingle Bottle/Miiverse.
Quest
  • Added Hero Mode: Available from the start, can toggle before loading your save. Take double damage, no heart drops of any kind. Can only heal via fairies, soup, potions or heart piece pick-ups.
  • Five Triforce charts have been replaced by the actual pieces.
  • Five new Treasure Charts were added into the quest to take the place of the Triforce Charts.
  • The starting wallet now has an upper limit of 500, as opposed to 99.
  • Tingle is introduced as part of the main quest.
  • Orca no longer knocks you down if you screw up the sword tutorial once.
  • Tingle Statues are now found by laying down regular bombs instead of the Tingle Bombs (that no longer exist) at their hidden locations. There is no prompt or hints in game at their location anymore, meaning they likely just wanted you to check the internet!
  • Forest Water now expires in 30 minutes instead of 20.
  • Enemy Orbs always drop said enemy's special item, e.g. Joy Pendants, Skull Necklaces and Knight's Crests.
  • The Hero's Charm (Item that allows you to see enemy health levels) is now claimed at the end of the Savage Labyrinth rather than from Ms. Marie.
Actions
  • Can now alter grapple swing direction while swinging.
  • Can now move in first-person view while aiming the Bow, Hookshot, Grappling Hook and Boomerang.
  • Addition of gyroscope aiming controls (which can be disabled).
  • Climbing a block is no longer an alternate command. Think Ocarina of Time where you have to press into a block to get a climb command, except in WWHD it takes longer. :/
  • Can no longer snipe Molgera's tongue out of the air using the Hookshot.
  • Enemies have less invincibility after being struck, allowing multi-hits from Thrust attacks.
  • Deku Leaf now has a green indicator which shows where you will land on the ground if you cancel the Leaf.
  • Magic Armor now requires rupees to use instead of magic.
UI & Animations & Misc.
  • Pulling items from the sea floor is about 4x faster.
  • Grappling cutscene is faster.
  • Text speed is much faster.
  • Wind Waker songs will no longer repeat themselves after being conducted once.
  • Wind Waker's beat only starts when you conduct the first note, as opposed to being constant.
  • Wind direction change option has been moved to the bottom right, as opposed to being a full screen overlay.
  • Wind direction change option no longer auto-points based on the direction of the thumbstick, but has to be pushed left and right manually like a clock.
  • Wind Waker has been moved to a permanent position on the Gamepad's D-Pad; no need to go into the menu to equip at any time.
  • Grappling and cannon options while sailing are permanently on the D-Pad. No need to equip while sailing.
  • Cannon firing now has a tracker showing you the trajectory of your bomb and where it will land.
  • Can now hotswap items on the GamePad without having to go into a menu (You can still pause to swap).
  • Can alter camera controls to be reversed (thanks GameXplain).
  • Can remove HUD from the screen entirely save for hearts, magic and quick prompts.
  • Can review fish advice from the GamePad map without having to re-feed them bait.
  • Items that enemies drop and the ones you break from the Orbs take longer to disappear.
  • Enemies that die at sea now have their items fly towards you as drops. Accuracy is hit-or-miss.

I could go over why it's worth it but everyone else seems to have done that for me xD I haven't gotten the HD remake yet but I definitely will soon. Been wanting to play wind waker a lot lately and my gamecube has been having trouble reading things.

It is totes worth it. The graphics are 10 times better than the original GameCube version. The music is awesome. It's also easier to do simple things. I don't have the game itself but I already know that it's awesome. It's so popular that even on the wii u eShop, the price hasn't changed from $50 since it came out in 2013. This is a game for any hardcore Zelda gamer.

Totally get Wind Waker you would be crazy not to Wind Waker is the best Zelda game like rated by actual people by far mainly because for its time the graphics were great Link actually stepped on every step it also introduced boat mechanics had fire and ice arrows plus light arrows which are OP and had you control winds with a BATON. I think it was a great game and you should play it too.

would say yes, because they have added so much more to the game, and the overall experience was better. I would list up every change from the gamecube Version to the Wii U HD remake, but I see that other users has already listed every single one of them. It was my first Wii U game, and I love it ^^.

If you think you'll get past the forsaken fortress then yes! :rotfl:

Reasons have already been listed above my post.

In a nutshell, it's probably one of the best WiiU games there is

You should not focus too much on trying to follow the timeline because each Zelda game is usually so detached from the others in the series. WW was produced before SS, and thus Nintendo has tried to adress issues that arose in past Zelda titles to provide the 'best' experience on SS.

Honestly, I didn't mind the speed of the boat or the many pieces of the triforce I had to collect, but if you think that sort of thing will bother you then by all means get the HD version. If I had a Wii I would definitely get it:)

Wind Waker looks EPIC! If I had a Wii U, I would have got it as soon as it came out. The fact that you can play The Legend of Zelda with a completely open world map is really cool. Especially the fact that you can get a boat and sail the ocean. If you've got the cash and the Wii U, then you've got to get Windwaker.

If i were you i would get windwaker. I love how you can explore the seas and how you can explore the world.

in my case i own both the gamecube and the wii u system. i had already played the game in my gamecube, anyway i must be honest and say to you that many times i have been seduced by getting the game in my wii u but there is something that pushes me back and is that feeling of well i already played th gme, is it worth spending some more money on it? let me be clear on this, if you never played zelda wind waker, you should get it in hd, it is like a must

Yes you should. Windwaker is one of my favorite Zelda games. The design and style is just amazing and looks great. It had great controls and a great story line. I really like exploring the big open ocean world. The dungeons were gun and I liked all the songs too. I would highly recommend this game, go get it now!
