I don't really get to play my Gameboy Advance SP much probably for about 20-30 minutes before I go to bed every night. However, I'm curious about the 3DS. Can you play regular gameboy games on a 3DS?

Sadly, you cannot play GameBoy Advance or GameBoy Advance SP games on the Nintendo 3DS. However, the Nintendo 3DS online store, called the Nintendo eShop, does carry a good amount of GameBoy and GameBoy Color titles for purchase, if you're interested in those.

Also, I think you should upgrade to a Nintendo 3DS. The Nintendo 3DS has a myriad of great titles, like Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Pokémon X or Pokémon Y, and more that I think you would enjoy.

wow, you missed out on the regular DS!. SP to 3DS is a big leap. But I do suggest you get the 3DS. There are some great titles yet to come, such as Super Smash Bros., Kirby Triple Deluxe and more. You may like A link Between Worlds, Pokemon X/Y and Yoshi's New Island and some others.

you can also play regular DS titles on it too.

It sounds like the DS.... are like completely different consoles from the Gameboy... I guess it's kind of like the Nintendo and Super Nintendo compared to the Wii and Wii U. lol

The 3DS is definately worth getting. You can get the 2DS (2d 3DS) in Best Buy right now for $99, which is a good buy. If I didn't already have a 3DS, I would totally get one now.

I would most defiantly suggest upgrading your SP to the 3DS, you can't play the games from your SP on the 3DS though but if you wanted to play them still just make sure you keep your SP.

The 3DS has much more of a variety of games and in my opinion the games are so much better & of course, better in graphics wise.

If you wanted to play older games what you have on the SP on the 3DS you can still purchase the majority of them as people said in the posts above. :)

If you decide to upgrade to the 3DS make sure to keep us informed on your experience with it! :)

Best of luck deciding!

I would seriously consider an upgrade. The SP dates back to 2002 if memory serves me right, while the 3DS is a lot newer. Also, they're coming out with more and more great titles for the 3DS all the time. So far the only games I have for the system are Brain Age: Concentration Training, and Pokemon X version, but I love both games. I play Brain Age almost daily, and Pokemon X every once in a while. The 3DS titles seem to be expanding to quite the variety. I would definitely consider upgrading if I were you. I did from a Nintendo DS Lite and that was probably the best upgrade I ever made.

i would get it if i were you, also if you want to play ds games and gba and gb but no 3ds you could get a ds lite but also there is no internet.

Well if you get bored of the SP and have no one to play with (or don't have a link cable) then you would notice the difference instantly when you decide to get a 3DS. It's like a leap from the SNES to the Gamecube and better yet, the library of games for the 3DS just seems better overall because of the vast amount of replayability in games like MK7 and Pokemon (especially if you have internet).

I also recommend that you get the 3DS. I wasn't even going to get one until I heard about the R/S remakes, but I just recently got one and it has some really great games. It's a beautiful system.

The 3DS is amazing, while most third-party games are either better on consoles or mediocre, the first-party games make it all worth it. I'm currently playing through Luigi's Mansion 2 and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros, two long games that should keep you busy for quite a while. Then there's also games like Mario Kart 7, Pokemon X/Y, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Bravely Default, and Adventure Time: Hey Ice King which are all exclusive to the console. Also, backwards compatibilty with the DS which itself boasts a great library. Basically, even if you're still a bit worried about whether you want to spend money on the console despite not using 3D, you can buy the cheaper 2DS which is the same handheld console but without the hinge, 3D and higher price tag. Go for it! :D

Yes, you should really upgrade to a 3DS. The 3DS has an amazing games library, and the games are really fun to play. If you want to play GBA games later on, you can always play them on an emulator. The 3DS is amazing, trust me. You won't regret anything once you buy it.

If you have lot of GBA cartidges, probably DS will be good (and the cheapest) option. You can play GBA games on it, DS games not so expensive too, and there are hundreds of awesome titles in DS library. But if forget about GBA cartridges - 3DS for sure, because you can play 3DS and DS games, all that you missed :) .

Upgrading to the 3DS is a great idea, since the console has a myriad of great titles. But if you can keep your GBA:SP, do it too, because there's no GBA VC on the 3DS (unless you get an Ambassador one), and the GB(C) VC is lacking good games.

So, yeah, if you can, upgrade, but keep your GBA. It might be useful. I still have mine, and sometimes, I play it, and believe me, 3DS + GBA:SP is a great combo, since you play any title from the GB(C)/GBA/DS/3DS, NES and Game Gear through the VC.

So, it's like carrying four consoles in two.

You should definitely upgrade! 3DS is a great system and is really amazing! I used to play gameboy advance SP all the time when I was younger. you can't play gameboy games on a 3DS, but there is a lot of virtual gameboy games to choose from!
