Should Resident Evil Revelations 2 have been episodic?

So... I only just found out that Resident Evil Revelations 2 is an episodic game. I'm not saying anything about the game at all, because I haven't played it and judging from the above screenshot (among others) it looks like a really good horror game, and the pricing ($24.99 for the complete season) doesn't actually make Capcom look like the money-grabbing jerks they've gotten a reputation for being in recent years (unless there are going to be lots of seasons with tiny episodes, in which case, they are), but still - why should a game from the most popular horror franchise have to be episodic? They might have to spend less on development, I guess, and more people would be likely to buy an episode, but it still seems pretty cheap to me. I'm not a fan of the episodic game format.

Not to mention my disappointment at there being no 3DS version.
