Sakurai himself has already said Ridley would never be in smash and here is why:
Downscaling Ridley takes away what makes Ridley himself. If you were to downscale Ridley to the size of say, Charizard, he would be extremely disjointed. Size has mattered because of other characters needing to be adjusted to fit in the game. If they were going by actual measurements, Olimar and alph would be 4cm, or barely visible. Ridley's attacks also wouldn't work as well because his size is a huge reason why his attacks are so amazing.

It should not have Ridley because he is just too big to fit and even if they shrunk him down, he would not be the same. But a character that should be returning are the ice climbers and I want bomberman in the smash bros. series.

I think Charizard would play like Ridley if Ridley were in Smash (unless Ridley has Brawl/other projectiles from other games?). Unless there was a mode you could play as bosses (which I don't see how it's possible to balance w/o letting them be able to defend) there is no way for him to be playable. Sure Smash isn't to scale (Jigglypuff would be way smaller for example especially when compared to Greninja) but I think Ridley is too long and skinny so his tail may look unnatural or his neck would be 1-2 pixels wide.

Isn't there already a discussion for this?

Yes, youre actually right about this... I had the same thinking here too. I think ridley is cool and all, but i feel it would be kinda awkward having him playable in smash.... He's kinda big, and unless nintendo shrunk him down people could obviously get an unfair advantage given how powerful (most likely a bit too powerful for obvious reasons) he would probably be. And as you said if nintendo did shrink him down it wouldn't be the same at all. Not to be smug or make fun of the original poster here, but ridley shrunk down too much would seem like a microscopic ridley, kek (if that makes sense, sorry if it doesnt this isnt my thing/specialty >.<). I think he'd be more like a pidgey if they shrunk him down like that, personally (talking sizes here, not power)...
I can understand why the original poster would like him in smash though. It wouldnt be bad if we didnt have to think about everything i mentioned above.

I would be fine with having Ridley in Smash. They made Bowser and Charizard (I think?) smaller, so why not do the same with Ridley? Though, it would be kind of awkward to be completely honest.

Well guess what? Since you mentioned it, i actually did just that because it was something i never heard or knew about. Not trying to be rebellious or defiant here (doing it just because you said not to), i just get curious like that. Sorry, kek

Ridley would be another Charizard, which would be quite boring. I would prefer more unique characters for the next smash game.

Like most people have said he wouldn't be a great character.
But I wish he was an assist trophies he would be and awesome helper with that use.
In my opinion.
