Omega Ruby
Team: The evil team you fight often is team Magma aren't as cool as team Aqua

Game Specific Legends: Groudon, Latios (unless you get the Eon ticket) Ho-Oh, Palkia, Tornadus, Reshiram.

Normal Pokemon- Kabuto, Kabutops, Seedot, Nuzleaf, Shriftry, Mawile, Zangoose, Solrock, Shieldon, Batiodon, Shellos (west), Throh, Archen, Archeops, Skrelp, Dragalge

Alpha Saphire
Team: Team Aqua

Legends: Kyogre Latias, Lugia, Dialga, Thundurus, Zekrom

Normal Pokes: Omanyte, Omastar, Lotad, Lombre, Ludicolo, Sableye Seviper, Lunatone, Cranindos, Rampardos, Shellos (east), Gastrodon, Sawk Tirtuga, Carracosta, Clauncher Clawitzer.

So choose the version with the Pokes you like more

Secondly, I think you should get Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire as they are much more advanced than X and Y and if your a true pokemon fan then lots of nostalgia

If you think about it the newer is usually the better (not always) but there are things that in one you cannot get the other. For example:
In Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire you can't get the majority of kalos pokemon as they are in Pokemon X and Y.
In pokemon X and Y the Majority of older generation of pokemon are unobtainable including nore of the legendaries.
Using these I think you should decide although to outcome is slightly obvious.

Omega Ruby is like the most fun cuz u can get more legendarys pokemon like Groudon in Omega Ruby and Kyogre in AS
After u finish the game try to get the other legendarys like lugia ho-oh Zekrom Reshiram kyurem girtina palkia deoxys Rayquaza and many more
