Unlike Mario Kart this is my 1st Smash Bros. game. Don't laugh please. Although I'm learning from the 3ds very quickly even for a beginner. I ended up getting it for Christmas along with the Wii U version and Pokémon Omega Ruby. My favorite fighter(s) would have to be Sonic, Wii Fit Trainer and all the Mario and Pokémon characters

If you are a beginner I recommend playing the game over and over again to gain some experience on how to use the characters and the weapons, that is at least what I did when I had the demo and later on I destroyed my friend when we battled through the demo.

Welcome to the series, @Dogman1027! I recommend playing Smash 64 on an emulator, if you know how to set all that up. While the gameplay and graphics are obviously different, it's considerably easier to play. Melee too, and Brawl is mostly for veterans of the others, as the controls were changed and the combat system is a bit worse than Melee.

Man, I mean what you say, on my first time playing Smash, people just kill me, but it's okay, you just need to play always to get more experience. If you lose thousand times, don't worry, just play it for fun, as long as you playing you can be better next time. Good game for you!

As you are a beginner, try to play as all of the characters. I know your favorite is Sonic, but sometimes being flexible in your characters cam help you hone your skills with your favorites. Also, Try to play against human players as well as computer controlled. A mix of how they both react will prepare you for all set ups and tricks they could pull. I hope this helped!

Well, apart from the excellent advice above, tips include:
  • Master shielding (R) and dodging/sidestepping (R+tap on the circle pad). They're arguably the most important factor in winning, especially in multiplayer matches.
  • Crank the difficulty higher after learning the controls and getting some experience if you intend to play multiplayer a lot. Multiplayer players are often at the level of CPU Lv. 9 or above that.
  • Try to get used to all attacks, especially Specials and launch attacks, and don't depend too much on a single attack since opponents (especially in multiplayer) can avoid it easily if you use it too often.
  • Enjoy yourself! :cat: Don't worry about losses too much, you'll get better the more you play.

welli think you shoul stick with simple fightes like mario falco luigi and thats my advice and what i have to say i hope you get good really good don'y worrie about lossing at all just play and train theres a trining mode in game;s and more

You should also play smash 64 for wii virtual console, or get a copy of Melee and Brawl even! It has a good tournament perspective (even though they are STILL using melee in tournaments and events 13 years later) and a good community, so do not be afraid to have one of us as you sparring partner!

I'd like to give soem tips, if that's the case:
1. Do not just keep spamming Smash attacks. They take a bit to charge up, and leave you vulnerable to faster attacks. Rack up damage with specials and neutrals, and then deliver a coup de grace with a well-placed Smash.
2. Shield often: Can't stress this enough. Some players who do not shield at all are easy pickings for any powerful attack. Shields can change the tide of battle very easily, and they can also be used to roll out of the way.
3. Know what your character does best. Eg: Litle Mac is a fighter who is VERY powerful on the ground, but he has THE worst recovery in the game as well as his weakness is his aerial movement.
4. Spice up your game. Do not simply go on using the same attack over and over again. If you do that, those attacks will lose power, plus you become insanely predictable.

Smash is not a game that you hop into and magically become a world champion at. You need tons of PRACTICE. Most of the tournament-goers have been playing Super Smash Bros. ever since the N64/Gamecube version came out, so they have loads of experience to back them up.

We have to learn all step by step, you know, step by step, like New Kids on the Block: Step by step, oh baby, I really want you in my world! haha, just kidding, but it sounds good... and nostalgic! xD

Playing classic mode on easy settings then slowly going up higher and higher as you adjust is a good place to start. It worked for me. Ssb 4 was my first smash game too and when I started I was struggling just to beat master hand intensity 2. Now with some practice I'm able to crank it up to around 8 intensity and beat master core

Practice on regular smash with increasing levels of difficulty for the cpus. Also, if you have both versions, are you going to get the mewtwo code for the 3ds? I'll buy it from you
