I've been playing Mario Maker a lot lately, and I've been thinking of different ways to make levels a lot more fun yet challenging. This weekend I thought of something really fun that could work.

This concept is something that only works with the Super Mario World format. What happens is the goombas (or in this style galoombas) don't die when you jump on them. Instead they flip upside down. This let's you grab them and kick them around. That's what I've started making levels around. Giving the player a galoomba to use as a weapon to clear courses. I've made two courses based on this concept and I believe it's a pretty good idea and it's also fun too.

Here is one of the levels I made using this concept: 6E82-0000-00C3-43FB (Galoomball). In this level there are enemies blocking the door to get to the next part. Behind you is a pipe which spawns galoombas. Use the galoombas to knock out the enemies and move on. The level then shifts into shooting galoombas onto moving platforms in the air. After that theres a bridge with lots of piranha plants that you must clear using galoombas. You climb your way up and then the pupe leads you to a battle with Bowser and Bowser Jr. In this annoying fight you must use Galoombas to take them out and reach the next pipe. The last part of the level is just kicking the galoomba down a wall of enemies. That's the gist of the level. Try playing it for yourself, you'll see the fun of the concept.

If you like this concept try making some levels of your own based on it. And share those levels here. I really enjoy these levels and hope more people use them in the future.

I say won't people not complete the level because it takes too long or something?

Although the level is kinda long it's not just repeating the same thing over adn over. Some cases you just kick galoomba to clear the path. In others you'll be trying to kick him across floating platforms and then even use them in a fight against Bowser and Bowser Jr. It starts off simple with letting the player get the feel of kicking the galoomba around and get ued to some of the physics of it then let them test the skill out on newer levels. Have you tried out the level yet? It's one of my more fun levels compared to the rest.

I don't have Super Mario Maker (or a Wii U) but this does sound pretty awesome and creative. Any chance you can make a video (or just a picture) so I can see it? :D

I thought about this exact concept a few weeks ago. I couldn't quite find a fun way to implement it into a level, and I wanted to make it more than clearing a path with the galoomba to proceed. Other Ideas I had in mind were using the galoomba to hit high blocks or reveal hidden blocks that are initially out of Mario's reach, as well as creating a placeholder-type box to keep the galoomba in as you are clombing up vines. Since you can only hold onto a galoomba for so long before it gets back on its feet, I also thought about making the player run through a tight area with thwomps that forces the player to hold onto the galoomba and not throw or toss it around (if that makes any sense xD). Just some other possible ways to utilize a galoomba. I have no clue how effective any of my galoomba utilizations are as I haven't tried any of them out yet. :p

If you can access my miiverse then there should be some pics of it. My miiverse name is N. I can try to take some pictures of the level later tonight if you wish
