Hey guys, P2 here! Have you guys played Sonic Adventure? (Of course you have, dumb question. :hilarious: ) Despite some of the funny glitches, Sonic Adventure DX is pretty fun game! I enjoyed it a lot! But what I really loved was the Chao Gardens! You remember those little guys. :3 You give them animals, and feed them fruit, and watch them grow up! How adorbs is that! >w< And you get to watch them race for medals! In Sonic Adventure 2, they stepped up the Chao Gardens and made special ones for the Hero and Dark Chao to feel right at home. (Brrr... The Dark Garden... <.<" ) Plus, new races, a Chao School, and a new mode had arrived: Chao Karate! It was pretty intense to watch, yeah?

Over the years as Sonic changed, his games changed too. And the Chao Garden was no more.. It's pretty sad.. I sure do miss those guys. But wouldn't be great if they came back?? :D

I loved the Chao gardens! I had both evil and good chao! there was one chao I raised that had maximum level on all abilities and it was pretty much invincible! The races were fun, but the Karate was my favorite. The hero garden is so pretty, and the dark garden gives me the chills, the water there looks like blood. o.o

I must say I missed the whole Chao addition, they should really bring it back. Just gives you a break from the usual sonic levels. xD

I agree. Looking at some of the Sonic games now is kinda... Eh. >.> If Sega really wanted to make an impact, they should add Chao Gardens again. :p I mean, what's NOT to love about Chao? They're small and totally adorbs! :3 And watching them grow up feels you with such excitement! :D Plus, entering them in the games makes it even more fun!

That reminds me of those hours spent farming the very first level in Adventure DX just to get lots of rings (600/run) in order to have rare or overpowered Chao(s). And yet, there's something which bothered me about Chao races... What's the point of "helping" the CPU to win (You know, when the cam focuses on a Chao, and you press A, it goes faster and sparkle for a small while) ?

Anyway, I also remember plugging my GBA:SP (With that GBA GameCube cable. I still have it) without a cartridge in order to get even more Chao and stuff (Yes, Adventure DX had a GBA downloadable game, and it would make the GBA's Nintendo logo flash green for a while, and after, you had a "Pocket Chao Garden", in which you could have free Chao, free rings, and free items. So, you could have infinite Chao with it, it was nice).

So, yes, I have to admit it was pretty fun to play back then. (Plus, the CG save wasn't that heavy, barely 8 blocks)
But wait... Considering the Chao Garden was cross-saved (unique save for all SADX save slots), that means that you could also farm the special eggs ?

The Chao Garden sounds like a clever gimmick made to imitate Pokemon Colosseum and XD and I take it this would only be available as a reward for your succession in finding these things granted you have a players guide or the internet or a friend to help you out which sounds like the best and worst thing about the Adventure games. In the Advance series it was completely dependent on you to find them all across the 2D levels but did nothing except bring you across a special ending if you find them all which was clever and the true importance of the Sonic games since the beginning. I think they should have more Sonic games that use this mechanic and find the most rewarding way possible for you to use it like say a secret Online multiplayer mode or local multiplayer or online Spotpass whichever you choose which all teaches the player how hard work pays off and not just because you beat the game either unless the endgame was incredibly hard.

@D4rkDragon :I too remember farming rings, or rather, helping my brother farm rings for those Chao. (Sonic Adventure DX is his game. :p ) We'd usually get rings by finding them on the outside of a level before entering the action stage. :sneaky: And yes, I remember the Advance series! I have Sonic Advance 2! It was a PAIN to finish, but the seeing all the rings from trying to collect the Chaos Emeralds was worth it in the Chao Garden. :p Plus pulling out the cord just in time before the machine took all your fruit/rings/eggs so you wouldn't lose anything was awesome!

@Artisan : Ikr? I feel they could've done more wit the Chao Gardens if they'd have kept in the mechanic. So many ideas swam through my head from watching Sonic Adventure/2's Chao Gardens, and transformations from regular Chao to Running, Flying, Swimming, Power, Light, Dark, and Chaos. They could've had a great thing going for them if they'd kept it.

Oh, I wasn't aware of the cable trick. As for the GBA, I wasn't referring to Sonic Advance, instead, I was meaning that the game had a game that you could download if you connected your GBA to the console with no cartridge (otherwise, it boots on the game) to the GameCube and went somewhere in the Chao Menu. (Hence why the Nintendo logo would flash green instead of the static purple you get when starting a GBA game). Nonetheless, if I ever get my hands back on a GC controller, I'll try what you said (I still have the disk, a memory card and a Wii, so, I'm ready to replay it any time)

Still, that feature was quite nice for those who couldn't get their hands on the game/couldn't afford it (in my case, I was unable to find it in France back then, so, when I discovered the Pocket Chao Garden trick, I abused it. Heck, I even used it for hours while my GameCube was off!)
