I understand were you coming from there is a whole argument about lost world is a Mario galaxy clone but I am just saying that sega made the idea first for the not released SONIC game that was going to be on the Saturn and also the sonic community is still alive with me in it believing that sonic will produce a sonic game and honestly hope it is no the end of sega. does anyone remember how sega quit consoles because they cared about the games and are trying to produce a great game and also sonic boom wasn't made by sega it was made by big red button which is not non existent anymore. yeah sonic boom fire and ice is coming out and honestly I believe that it will be good for the 3ds. hope people just criticize people just because of what they like or what they believe in.

It's gotten worse, but several later games are still enjoyable for me (I liked Sonic Rivals 2 a lot). It's been getting worse ever since Sega stopped making their own consoles. There is a slight decline in quality even before that - Sonic Adventure was great, but it was them trying to make their equivalent of Super Mario 64.
A lot of people point at Sonic 2006 as having started its deterioration but I think it started in the early 2000s when they tried too hard to make Sonic a child-friendly balloon-voiced Tails-and-Knuckles-BFFs don't-do-drugs hero. It'd have been great if they could have pulled that off probably but it was just an annoying failed attempt.

I think Sonic has his highs and his lows. True there are some really good Sonic games out there and then there are the ones we want to burn with bleach and fire.
I think that Sonic is reaching its age where it just isn't what it used to be and soon it's going to retire. Because face it, unlike other games where everyone can agree that this one particular game in the series was horrible, everyone has claimed that at at least one or more of the games sucked and each was a different game. Honestly I feel like Sonic would do much better under the care of Nintendo.

Meh I don't know. Sonic has always seemed to have the strangest fanbase in the existence of gaming fanbases because it appeals to the autistic and casual platformer gamers. I think the Sonic Team just struggles to come up with anything new and have it appeal to it's fanbase as they've been experimental with plenty of themes like Saturaday Morning cartoon style, classic style like Generations and Sonic Advance, and their level backgrounds and music are all very clever and different unlike what the Mario games have but still seem to have casino levels, undergrounds levels and lot of stuff in between. I think their trying to find the perfect audience still which should like a challenge and personally I think they should experiment less and stick to the basics of what makes the better games better.
