So, recently Re-Logic (makers of Terraria) and Engine Software (helpers of making the console & mobile ports) have announced Terraria: Otherworld. Yaaay! 
It is set in an alternate Terrarian universe, where corruption has taken over. You must fight back to take the land, with crafting/finding Purifying Crystal towers, and then atcivatingthem.
Although with their ancient technology, the enemies will want to destroy it for some reason. For this purpose, you mustcraft Wartowers and activate them near the crystal, since it would be quite tedious to ruun back and forth across the whole map. (Tower Defense, yaay!)
More info will be reeased asdevelopment continues, although there is also going to be a sort of story with 'purpose', and RPG elements, and the devs want to release it sometime in 2015 as a full game
