I got the shiny charm in pokemon sun some time ago, but haven't had enough time to really play around with an experiment with it to learn much, however I've heard sos method is pretty popular an some said it really works so here's where my question comes in....

Im asking specifically what the increase is of finding a shiny with the sos trick (an please, dont go into crazy details because i know i wont understand then) in simpler terms, but im also writing this asking people who've had sufficient time to try it out with shiny charm how much time they spent doing it or how much better the job is if you have it (or easier if that makes sense).

Im aware of the tips people give for this method, use leppa berries, adrenaline orb, intimidate, etc... I know those things so that bit is out of the way here. Thanks in advance :p

0-69 SOS chains = 1/4096
0-69 SOS chains + Shiny Charm = 1/1365.3
70-255 SOS chains = 1/1024
70-255 SOS chains + Shiny Charm = 1/341.3
After 255 chain resets

Mind you, take this with a grain of salt as not enough testing has been done to test increase from Shiny Charm. I based these numbers off the fact it was 300% increase in X/Y/ORAS and I absolutely hope it hasn't been nerfed, based on what I've seen though it hasn't.

Alright thanks though! I cant say thats particularly surprising though, i dont remember the exact release date for the games as ive been too busy to really pour much time into testing or track time passed since the release date. Im not sure every shiny method has been discovered either on a different note lol :p

I remember a NPC in this building in the game though that said your chances of finding a shiny pokemon are 1/4000 but as you probably gather from my topic here/ original post i know next to nothing on how to crack that down with the added 300% in the games kek :p

Another thing im also aware of is people who either troll or get super lucky and find a shiny within very short amounts of time (i have nothing to back this up, hence my doubts of these stories even being true aside from it being obviously far fetched in my opinion), but im talking about whats more likely to happen than some so-called random breakthrough (if i said that right).

Thanks for the information though! :p

Ok here is my opinion/ suggestion to you. Have you heard of the Shiny Swap method. Basically, the game knows and saves Shiny state during breeding, we can determine then that regardless of anything if the next egg you hatch will be a Shiny if you reset and swap parents (following certain conditions) you can control what Shiny you get. I don't want to type thirty pages of text so here is the reddit link in which I learned this strategy: https://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/5iugaw/shiny_breeding_exploit/ Hope this helps for all your Shiny hunting let me know if you have any more questions or need simplification!

Keep in mind that the base chances of catching a shiny is 1 in 8192.
with the shiny charm, the chances increase to about 1 in 2,370.
Even after having the shiny charm and using the sos chains, catching a wild shines still will take a while. The call for help feature, however, does keep you in the battle for a little while so you wouldn't have to run around so much.

Thanks for the suggestion, will check the link soon! Yes though, i did hear about the shiny swap but i never really looked into it, but i may check it out soon since i lack time to do a 4+ hours hunt for one shiny (not to say that's completely ruled out but based on what you wrote im aware its a possibility)

Thanks in advance! ;D
