First-Person Shooter, Splatoon has now been announced at Nintendo's E3 Digital Event, and this game looks AMAZING, I personally want a Wii U now just for this game, it's so creative, and different from those other FPSs. The game has such a creative concept;

"With a push of the button you can morph into a squid, swimming quickly through your team's ink along the ground and walls. Swimming in the ink doesn't just vastly increase your speed, it also refills your ink tank. If you hit the opposing team's ink you won't be able to proceed. Even walking through the enemy's ink can be problematic, it's like walking through molasses.

While you can take out enemies with your ink guns and ink grenades, the only way you can win a match is by capturing more than half of the map. The GamePad controller provides a constant real-time view of the map, where the characters are and the spread of ink for both teams. The GamePad's map isn't just a great way to track which side is winning, it can also be used to quickly join teammates. If a player taps a friendly on the map, their character rockets into the air and lands next to them, ready to join in the fight." POLYGON

I can't stop thinking about this game, it looks like a ton of fun! Let me know what you think, imagine this having online-functionality.

I really think this will be a fun game to play, I wish there was a two player mode though and I wonder how much it will cost. It would be AWESOME if this game was Free to Play. Kind of like Steel Diver: Sub Wars except this and Wii U, and why 2015? So long!

I know, 2015 is too long a wait! It would be amazing, if this had a Free to Play demo, but I don't it'll happen. :panda: This game is way to anticipated, for it to be a Free to Play.

Found an awesome off-screen video, it makes me want to play this game, right now!

Very nice. It's different, it's fun, and it's all for the fun of the sport. I think there'll be more modes to it but this one looks good.

Is it only by shooting colors balls to peoples?

I like how you called this a first person shooter...it isn't.

Anyway, this was the game of the show for E3 for me all around. It looks fantastic and I just want to play it forever. Maybe I'll even host a launch tournament...

Maybe if you would read the post you would know.

@Nanamine, it is a first person shooter game.

I only watched the first hour of E3 and didn't tune in afterwards, so I thought it wasn't an fps too, but @Reece quickly pointed out I was wrong by showing me links they aired on the after-show.. Apparently your tablet is in FPS mode, with an option to change screens from Fps to the map.

I really like the look of this game. I think it's really weird, and definitely random, but that's what gives it the appeal it has, it's unlike any other shooting game you've ever played. The innovative gameplay is something that really makes me want to try this game. The idea of turning into a squid to dive into my own team colours ink is amazing! Just like Reece, I may be sold on the Wii U for this game... as long as it doesn't support Amiibo

Now this is the game in 2015 that really makes me excited, along with Zelda U. Nintendo shooter with online play? I'm in. It's something completely new from Nintendo and redefines the FPS/TPS genre for them.

It really is different from all of the other FPS games lol It's truly innovative and that's what I love about Nintendo lol An FPS game that doesn't involve killing is something I crave for a long time lol I'm kinda bored with the same pattern over and over lol We all know that EA has been milking Battlefield dry and doesn't have any major changes. Anyways, I would gladly have this game if I ever get a WiiU of my own lol

I really want this game. It looks really fun and entertaining. Especially since it's an 8 player online game. Can't wait. I am saving up now. Is there local play though? Because if this game eventually gets old, then nobody would be online and that would defeat the purpose of the game.

Why do you not like Amiibo?

To me, Splatoon looks like the Nintendo version of Team Fortress 2. If they can pull this off, Splatoon could be really big, but I fear people will not buy it because it looks too "kiddy" or "childish".

I will also buy a WiiU for this game and also Mario Kart 8. I do agree that it looks really fun and I can't wait to try it when I do get it. 2015 is way to long a wait.

I am waiting on more info about this game, before I decide if I would want to get it. I mean from videos, it looks fun, but would like to know more before I decide.

It's actually a third person shooter, not a first one. You see the character moving.

It's both. The first person view is on the tablet.

It's pretty neat how they added both third person and first person perspectives for the screen and GamePad, respectively. I have a feeling Splatoon can be a big hit since it is actually trying to innovate the shooter genre (which is slowly becoming a bit stale).

At first I wasn't too interested in this game but after a while, I started to like it more and more. I'm mostly excited for the online multiplayer gameplay. Should be fun and yes, if there are enough Splatoon players here, there will be tournaments.

Honestly, 4 vs 4 online sounds a bit small, I'm hoping for 6 vs 6 eventually (possibly in sequel if it does that well, which I think it will) and also classes, but judging by the E3 trailer which did show a sniper, we'll probably have classes. I'm hoping for a ton of maps also, along with the possibility of changing up your character. Maybe you could add hats to it like on TF2, that would be pretty cool.

When I get the game, I'll probably just be playing online all of the time but it's going to be cool to see how they change up the gameplay for the story mode (assuming there will be one, alongside the general offline modes).

Yeah, online will (should be) the main draw of this game. It should be a game you can play with friends and strangers. I hope 4 v 4 is not the only mode because that is just too small of a fight. Something like 10 v 10 or 20 v 20 will just amplify the fun and make the maps feel less empty.
