Stadium Help - Home Run Challenge

So I hope i'm not the only one needing help with this but..
How do I do this Home-Run challenge properly? I've read the description (no help) and tried so many different ways but when it comes to actually whacking the bag away it never moves..
ONCE it actually went somewhere (when I did a sweep kick with Mario) and moved 8.4 Metres.

Also tips for Target blast are appreciated.
 
First off, deal a lot of damage to the sandbag. When you start running out of time, then, quickly take the baseball bat and go for the smash !

Depending on the sandbag's damage rate, it will fly more or less farther.
Example: Most of the time, when it has taken 100+% damage (Baseball Smash Included), I usually send it fly at 500 meters, 600 if I'm lucky.
 
Rack up damage as fast as you can. Unlike Melee you cannot use grabs on the Sandbag (but in Brawl you couldn't). The tip of the bat is where you get the most distance btw and it's alright to toss the bat at the bag and preform combos off it. As for the Angry Birds like minigame I've never played it yet so idk. .-.

For some reason the bag was never getting smashed before, I don't know if it was where I was doing it in too much haste or what, even today it took about 20 retry's then outta nowhere it the same hits I had been doing turned into a smash and it went 391M :D

So thanks guys, I smashed it

Nope, because I retry only if I'm not pleased with the result :p. And when I smash the sandbag, there's 1 sec. or a few milliseconds left. However, my main problem is that the sandbag tends to make me think that I'm hitting its hitbox correctly while it's not the case, or it goes up while I'm dealing damage to it. Conclusion: Wasted tries and wasted time.
