Hello all! So, @Marc said he was redoing his farm, so I went ahead and made a list to give him a whole bunch of suggestions to make the farm look and operate better than before. That's when he told me to make a thread, so here it is, lol.
Note: Before I give you my tips, a disclaimer. I do not know your farm or your play style. I am not saying that you are playing the game wrong if you are doing the opposite or not using these tips. It's your farm, so run it how you'd like.
Now here are the tips!
-Make a big field for giant crops. It can have sprinklers, as long as there are chances for growth. If you have any questions on how to grow these, check the guide on the homepage. Sell the crops for quick cash or save it for food. Melons are used in Pink Cake, and Pumpkin is used in Pumpkin Soup and Pumpkin Pie, which are great dishes. Cauliflower is used in Cheese Cauliflower, which is good if you need a small boost in energy or health.
-Keep a small ancient fruit field outside, and put quality fertilizer in it. Keep the fruit on you, and you can sell it if you ever need some quick cash.
-Don't use fertilizer on the Greenhouse if all of the fruit in it is used for wine. Fertilizer doesn't factor in wine quality at all.
-Plant one of each fruit tree in the Greenhouse in the little dirt squares.
-Fill the rest of the Greenhouse space with Pots and fill them with starfruit for wine.
-Fill the main growing space in the Greenhouse with ancient fruit and use it for wine.
-Fill up quarry with rows of normal trees producing product into the tappers.
-Build a shed for your jam, kegs, and crystalariums. Label with item frames.
-Seperate your farm into areas. Have one area for all of the animal stuff (such as an area with a lot of grass and flowers for bees and pigs), another for processing things (such as sheds full of things), and one more for crops.
-Build the Golden Clock to stop more debris from appearing on your farm.
-Use a website planner if you are re-doing your farm. It helps make sure everything fits so you can start planning for paths and lamp posts to make your farm look even better. I suggest Wooden Path or Stone Path with Wooden/Iron Lamp Posts respectively. (All of those recipes can be bought from Robin.)
-Have the biggest field be crops towards making Jam to make sure you have enough fruit to last you through winter.
-Start stocking up on basic cooking ingredients like Eggs, Cheese, Flour, Milk and Sugar. Thank me later.
Those are all of my tips! If you think I made an error somewhere, or can add something, let me know. If you need clarification or help with something, feel free to ask!
