A while ago I made a starter tips about what to do on day 1, i am now making a day 2.
1# If you have not had the 100% approval rating see step 5# on starter tips day 1. If you did get it then talk to Isabelle again and she will say that you can now work on public works projects (PWP), there are only a few you can make at first but i would choose one of the bridges it makes it a lot easier to get around btw they cost anywhere from 120,000 bells-170,000. to get more your villagers will suggest them.
2# Pay off your house, if you have already then just read after this. ok so after you have payed off your house (not the 10,000 down payment) then you should get a visit for Tortimer the towns previous mayor. he will tell you about the island, then go down to the docks and talk to him on the next day you will have it unlocked.
3# shake the trees every day, in your town you will have a amount of trees, at first you dont have many but you can plant more later. in your town 2 trees will have a random item in it you can keep or sell.( once i got a white katana that is worth 40,000) it can be almost anything. and then there are 3 trees with bees in them , the nests are worth 500 bells each and the bees are worth about 1000. then there are i think 12 trees with a 100-200 bell coin that drops from them.
4# just have fun. talk to your vilagers dig up stars to get fossils and get them put in your museum, hit rocks to get money, and ore, plant flowers,get shop upgrades,buy new stuff. and there is lots more. but remember just have fun
