Hello Pedians,

As you likely know from the subject title, i am going to cover how to efficiently (or more efficiently) steal from kecleon in pokemon super mystery dungeon. Now, i haven't found many accounts of people being seriously successful with this, in fact im beginning to notice that many people think its extremely/ insanely difficult to near impossible. From my own experience and personal study, i managed to crack a method so to speak that has worked for me on every thieving attempt in game. This is where im going to give you step by step instructions and write out ways to steal from kecleon (almost) as easily as it was in earlier releases of the pmd saga/series (dating back to red/blue rescue team and explorers of time/darkness {maybe sky?}). The job is rather simple if you go by what i will write below, i speak from my own direct experience here.

1.Team: only one ghost pokemon that can naturally penetrate walls. I use banette for this personal reasons, though i think gengar can also go through the walls. If youre not sure your Pokemon of choice can penetrate walls, just do what i like to call a dummy test and enter a short and easy dungeon and just go from here to check this. Optimally, its ideal to do this on the main save where you can save your game on the lobby before going somewhere (so you can just reboot the game without losing any progress and wont have to finish the dungeon since its just a test, optional but ideal in my opinion).

2. Choose a short and easy dungeon im very sure everyone reading this knows why i said that, but for any potential newbies to the pmd series, this is no joke; when you start the thieving attempt, the kecleons of course spawn infinitely, but be warned most of all that they can easily OHKO nearly every available pokemon in the game (for those who dont understand, OHKO is short for one hit KO/kill). Hence my reason for saying to choose a short and easy dungeon. If you do not believe, all you have to do is look on youtube, or better yet, see for yourself. You have been warned! :p

3. Items this is also important, i just bring 10 apples, 5 tiny reviver seeds, and basically an escape orb along with some wands+ petrify and slumber orb/wands to help slow the kecleons down. I highly recommend bringing a few guiding wands or a pure seed to make sure you reach the stairs as quickly as possible. Given how insanely strong the kecleons are, its plainly obvious you want to leave the floor as quickly as possible. It's also ideal to bring some expensive selling items to drop on the mat and sell to him, then just collect them and proceed with the heist like normal and exit the floor as fast as you can. I just do the above and then take my stuff back along with taking as much of his as possible, optimally aiming to take everything he's got. Once the music changes and he says catch that thief just use the guiding wand and cut through the walls to get there faster. They cant hit you while youre in the walls but your belly empties faster so thats why you wanna bring extra apples so you dont die from hunger. He might use synchronize, but this is also void as it only affects pokemon who are the same type as the user (still wondering what this move is useful for in the main RPG s.... Lol :p ).

Other than the above, thats all there is to it! It might seem a bit scary at first for lack a better words, but once you practice and do it enough it actually gets to be quite funny watching the kecleons try to finish you as you warp, slumber them, petrify them and so forth, only to find yourself successful and reaching the stairs quickly and easily! :p i also have one more tip i didn't write above that i kinda taught myself as well. It might help quite a bit if you look at the overlay on the lower screen and use that to locate the kecleons.... A simple yet effective tactic here is using petrification items such as wands and orbs when they are stationed near a spot that allows Pokemon to enter the room youre in, which will keep them totally stuck there and also block the entrances to the room, this can help cut down on potential chaos and help with crowd control as well, it seals off possible ways for your enemies to reach you! ;D

Caution: Escape orbs will not work on the floor you do the thieving attempt on, if you want to leave proceed to the next floor and use it there.
