NYEH HEH HEH!
Towns Folk
Guys, don't get me wrong. Sun and Moon don't look like bad Pokemon games at all. However, the Alola forms look like they're going too far to me. I don't mind a few of these, but with all the different forms releasing of clasic creatures, it almost feels like its missing the point. Pokemon was a huge success because it was simple. Now, it feels like I'll get confused with all the new forms of Pokemon. Will the old ones be forgotten? Is this a one time thing? Will every generation after this release strange versions of older Pokemon? I hope not. At the moment, I don't really think I'll be picking up Sun and Moon, Or, at least, until it goes on sale or something. It just doesn't appeal to me as much as the others.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I feel the same way you do, how the new forms of Pokemon are a little confusing. The way I've played Pokemon, it's a little strange to see a fire type turned into a water type. Then again, the Alola region is supposed to be based around a tropical region, and they didn't introduce very many fire types. Though some of these changes are confusing, I'm still looking forward to playing this game. Its a Pokemon game like any other, just a new story and generation, and I'm truly interested in it. As you can probably guess, I love Pokemon :)

Every gen brings something new. The old ones won't be forgotten. Some people may remember them even better. I usually forget the pokemon I don't see in online battles, but this will make the old ones more revelant. They will have more use. And I can't really say that this is a one time thing. It makes sence, since real life animals have also adapted in Hawaii, and since Pokemon is trying to be similar to our world it makes sence. They might do it, if the games take us to other regions, where this happens, but I actually like Raichu now. I usually didn't really like most of the gen 1 Pokemon, but this helps. It gives them a different form, which look cool. I don't think that this is a bad thing, I think that Pokemon is just giving us new ones. I have actually forgotten Sandslash, but now they became soo cool, that I really like them.

Basically they're running out of ideas.

I mean, it was bound to happen and well, it has. I would like to think that this will be the last generation as it has been dragged on for a bit now. As much as I would hate to see pokemon go, I'd prefer it to end on a good game/generation then end with no one playing it anymore due to how rubbish the pokemon designs are or how bad the games are.

I've preordered the steelbook version of Sun, mainly for the figure but also because I love the steelbook. Thinking back, I hardly thought about the game itself but whatever. Pokemon sun looks the better of the two, mainly because I really like the look of the legendary.

Some people will disagree with me that they're loosing ideas, but after 7 gens it's incredibly hard to keep pumping out ideas. One person said to me that if there's money there's always ideas. That's true to a certain extent. If they're money, and they want money incredibly badly then yes, there will be a somewhat constant stream of ideas which will slowly get worse in quality, that route will end in people not wanting to buy the product due to low standards of the design. The other route is when they don't care much about money and are fine with ending the series by themselves. That route means that you know your limits as a desiginer and you can see the quality of your ideas getting worse. So you make one final game/product, make it the best you can and end it on there. From there you can make spin-off with the same characters, remakes, whatever without needing new ideas.

I think the art style is all very similar to previous generations with the exception of the GCN game's trainers. Even the Alohan forms don't seem too different from their original forms keeping in mind the art style. Sure the Pokemon look different but that's expected. At least their designs aren't as bad as certain Gen 5 Pokemon like Samurott. Pokemon is still simple with the exception of the meta. It never said it was supposed to be easy but considering the transferring of Pokemon it appears the only Pokemon you really need to capture are the new generation of Pokemon. Mega forms were strange but it didn't stray from the art style but even before then there were different evolutions to previous Pokemon so it doesn't stray to far from its base.

I have to agree that Pokémon Sun and Moon is very different compared to the other games in terms of content and design of the whole game. But I do like the features such as creating your own online tournaments and hyper training. It will definitely be easier to train evs and you can even train ivs now for the first time! That gives more of a reason for online competition purposes without having to cheat, and its just plain more fun that way. Then the concept of Battle Royals have already been established when people used to play online on XY and ORAS where whoever the last one standing in the multi battle wins and the Pokémon creators were obviously listening to their fans on that part. Overall, I think the game is going to give a very refreshing feel along with an original feel with the old Pokémon with their new alola forms.
