Indeed it is, I keep wishing that Nintendo will make a 3D Mario game like the N64 version. I loved that. No need for this time limit nonsense they have been doing. If it's anything I feel Nintendo hasn't done well, it's the 3D Mario games IMO.

Yups 100 percent agree with you I hate time limits and a 3D port I would pick up in an instant.

It depends on what you mean by "craze", because I can tell you that at times, this game has tested my patience. I know I'm asking for a bit much, but they should honestly have a remake on the 3DS or on the Wii U, maybe even with some new levels and new content. I would definitely pick any remake or sequel to this game up.

Super Mario 64 is the best Mario game ever made. I really want to see a sequel on either the 3DS or Wii U or both. This game is the reason why I think 3D Mario games trump 2D Mario games any minute of the day. The levels are expansive and have multiple stars to collect, and there are plenty of places to explore in the castle. The bosses were actually challenging for the most part and the music was pure Mario- themed fun. I think it's not only the best Mario game but one of the best games ever made too.

I don't think I've ever seen a game with the amount of hype SM64 managed to achieve. I feel bad for those who missed it when the N64 first launched. It was an event like no other. I love the game!

I agree! The mario game that started the 3D mario revolution! Everyone loved the 2D classics, and it was just amazing to have it in 3D for the first time! And with that said it was actually a fairly long game with so many extras available!

Mario 64 was such a great game! I played the DS remake, because I'm not that old school, but it's definitely in my top 5 Mario games ^_^ so many secrets, and in every level so many stars to collect! Also; great soundtrack! I could go on and on why I love this game, but that would take ages

I never played the original version but I did play the DS version so I'm with you @Moon Rain ! :) Super Mario 64 / DS is an awesome game and I loved collecting the stars from each picture. Good times! :)

Both versions were equally great in their own ways, but IMO the original had way more fun exploitable glitches, like getting up the castle without all the stars, and especially backwards long jumping...
You know what, since the nostalgia factor is really kicking in now, I think I'll stop and boot it up a bit!

When this game came out for the N64 it was a good game you can do alot of stuff that like finding stars and other items. but you can only mario. When the the Mario n64 came out for ds you can choose Yoshi, Luigi, and, Wario. There were multiplayer and mini games you can choose from. This one for the ds was better than the one for the n64.

This is the first game I had for my N64, and boy was it a good one. Played this game for hours and hours, and finally got all the stars. This was the best mario game imo, but Mario galazy is pretty good too.

I want either a sequel to 64, or a sequel to Sunshine.

It was the first N64 game I played and in the end, the one I played most. I loved it and it seems ahead of its time in terms of visuals and gameplay for a game released almost 20 years ago. I don't own the N64 version anymore, and I didn't really like the DS version so much because yeesh, why make us play as Yoshi when the game is called Super Mario 64 DS and a lot of people bought it to have the original game in portable form? :rage:

Yeah I played this game on an emulator but I didn't get all the stars even though they were pretty hard to get and in my game on the emulator you couldn't get secret characters. The emulator one on N64 was different from the ds one.The game was a blast by the way.

Oh my goodness, I really love Super Mario 64. Its a very interesting, challenging and fun game to play. The variety of levels and scale each world is simply breathtaking. And despite all of their saccharin-sweet cuteness, the graphics are magnificent. Just love this game so much ^^

The first 3D Mario game a great entry in the series and was the foundations for the fantastic galaxy games and 3D world

Super Mario 64 is one of the greatest games of the Mario series ever. Nintendo really did a fantastic job on this one. Its remake added many features as well, but was hampered by its poor controls until seven years later, with the release of the 3DS and its joystick. (seriously though, why didn't they just put a joystick on the original DS?)
