these two are some of the greatest games in Mario History, for sure! <3

Nintendo did so well with them. Great graphics, vibrant levels/worlds to explore, cool power-ups and much more! there's so many stars to collect for endless hours of fun! <3

I never played the second one, but the first one was really great. It's everything a new Mario game should be. I can't wait to see what kind of Mario game they decide to do on the Wii U.

LOL, I never played the first one. I played the second one and I loved the game though I really wish I had gotten to play the first one now looking back on it :/ .

I have never played Galaxy 2 but I have 100% completed the first one. I have to say, it was a very enjoyable game. The music was really good too!

I only played Super Mario Galaxy 1 after picking it up as a Nintendo Classics title. Right off the bat, the graphics were sharp and stunning and the different planets had a lot of detail. The gameplay was different from what I've gotten used to with other games, but it was varied and fun. I also liked the levels that deviated from the main space world, like that little surfing level. All in all, it was an excellent game for the Wii and one of the best in that generation. I regret that I never got around to playing Galaxy 2 (Wii is gone now).

I've never actually played mario galaxy before (neither 1 or 2) but I must say it does look wonderful! I've heard a lot of good things about it and am actually considering buying it, maybe, but i'm not sure!

As you can see from my avatar, I enjoy Galaxy. Never played the sequel curiously, but I'm sure I will someday. I can't say I prefer Galaxy over 64 or Sunshine, but it's a worthy followup.

The first Super Mario Galaxy was the best. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is good, but the levels were just not my style. Galaxy 1 had better music, better lobby (Observatory), and a better plot imo. When I first played Galaxy 2, I got bored of it...
by the time I reached World 6

I've played them both and personally I prefer the Galaxy 2 minigame/levels (Flight and Ball) over the Galaxy one version (Riding a manta ray... I forget the rest but I recall the Galaxy 2 ones to be less frustrating. Both titles had neat 3D levels (I think Galaxy has all 3D levels and Galaxy 2 has a mix) with their own flair and differences. For example Galaxy had the Boo Mushroom and Red Star as exclusives and Galaxy 2 had the new power ups Cloud Flower and Rock Shroom. The Green Stars were harder to get because they were hidden however if you know where to look they were surprisingly easy to get. Both of them were great games but I liked the Galaxy 2's more creative bosses better. I'm not sure if there could be a step up from the Galaxy series since it was so revolutionary... Perhaps new mechanics for the player like say the Frog Suit and Metal Box.

Like the majority I prefer Galaxy 1 over 2, particularly because I liked the Observatory more and the overall feel of the game. Music in Galaxy 1 was also better.

I agree, the Observatory was vastly preferable to the faceship from the second one. It was more player-immersive than the level select thing from 2, and more fun to explore as well. It was like a huge house, whereas the faceship was just a tad boring.

I've almost beaten the first one, but I stopped playing for some reason. Right now, I'm trying to 100% Galaxy 2. I've been having a lot of fun with the galaxies!

Good luck. They hid the Green Stars well (if you don't know where to look) and I've already 100%'d it so it is possible.

I loved the Galaxy series, beating both games in the series. The levels were fun and creative, making use of the anti-gravity mechanics nicely. I especially like the bosses since they require much different strategies to beat them, compared to the 2D Mario bosses.

I love the first Galaxy game but I wished I could play through the second game, but I love Galaxy one because of the boss battles.

I agree with you. This was a very enjoyable game, and I never expected a Wii Mario game to hav esuch astoundung graphics. I just loved the gameplay elements where you had to shake your remote and kill enemies, and the mix of 2D with 3D stges was a perfect match.
I hope a new Super Mario Galaxy comes to the Wii U, so we can enjoy it again :)

Both Super Mario Galaxy games were very fun or me. I personally enjoyed Mario Galaxy 1 over the second one. The base, Comet Observatory, was excellently done. Starship Mario was OK but just didn't have the same feel as the Comet Observatory. Mario 2 had fun levels, but I enjoyed Super Galaxy 1 more overall. Great games!

Super Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2 are my favourites too! I love the unique mechanics - there aren't a lot of other games where you can move around in gravity quite like these.
I tend to prefer the original Galaxy, but Galaxy 2 adds a lot to the original formula, like new power-ups, minigames, and, most importantly, Yoshi!
It also irons out a few of the flaws from the original, like the camera, hub (I like the original hub, but not everyone agrees), and underutilization of power-ups.
Don't tell anyone, but my favourite thing to do in Super Mario Galaxy was to stand on small planets and try to jump out of their gravitational pull :] This usually ends up killing Mario via black hole, but it's interesting to see which planets you can escape from, and where you land!

Yes, the mechanics are really cool and unique! Its true Galaxy 2 fixed some of the flaws from the first Mario Galaxy. Galaxy 2 also brought little 'ol Yoshi to the game! That was very cool and I kind of wanted that.

I did that too sometimes haha. Its kind of cool see how gravity moves you. Galaxy 1 and 2 are Wii masterpieces.
