I'm starting to think that smash bros is becoming more like a party game. I say this because of smash tour and how chaotic it is, 8-player smash, and all the multiplayer modes

I think the reason why they did Smash Tour and not Smash Run on the Wii U is because Smash Run "needs" one screen per player, which is easy to do on the 3DS (everybody having 2 screens ) while Smash Tour can be played everyone on the same screen. And yeah, I don't like how Mario Party it looks like. Not enough Smash.
8-player Smash doesn't bother me however. It's chaotic and the camera is annoying (never zooms, people being all over the place) but at least it's a Smash match, and allows 8 players to play at the same time instead of taking turns as we would do on the GameCube for instance.

Well, to be perfectly honest, it is a party game. This has been stated by Mr. Sakurai himself, as he regards the game as a party game, meant for many players. Now, why is mostly considered a fighting game by the fans and players? Because the fans and players made it that way!
