Switch Lite’s analog sticks are the same as the joycons

I was telling @Sky about this earlier, but nothing changed when it came to analog sticks on the new Switch Lite.

There are a lot of reports about peoples' joycons drifting. This should be one of the biggest concerns for people who purchase the new Switch Lite console because the joycons are attached to it. That means you can't detach the joycons or swap them for replacements.

So if the analog sticks on your Switch Lite begins to drift, you're basically screwed and need to go to Nintendo for repairs.

This is kind of disappointing to hear. What do you think about it?

It's better than a circle pad that's even harder to replace. *shrugs* I guess you get what you pay for. It makes it easier for the consumer to choose which one they want because if it had a better analog stick and you liked games that don't support GCN controllers maybe that would be the choice. That familiarity was probably what Nintendo was going for. If the stick drifts then
Be nice to your stick. #SwitchStickAwarenessMonth

Problem is the stick drift is a hardware issue, it's not a case of "using it too roughly". It's a genuine hardware issue. It'll happen to everyone over time hence why the first lawsuit happened, and what I presume is going to happen again over this.

And there you have it. First report of someone with a drifting analog stick on their Switch Lite:

its a business strategy at this point :p

That’s not good, hopefully later renditions of the lite had better ones in it

That sounds ridicule, as, the Switch Lite was only released a few weeks ago. Surely, if they were doing their jobs properly, there would be no 'drift' in the analog sticks. This could lead out to be a serious issue within Nintendo as they are responsible for it. Nintendo must fix this issue and fast. They need to send out a public apology statement and allow for switch lite replacements once they can fix the issue on new models.

They've not done anything with the regular switch. They're defective from factory because the stem of the issue is from a hardware choice. This isn't a "mistake" or an "incorrect part", it was a choice made.

The lawsuit I hope will sort all this out. Hopefully, it'll also do something outside of the US as well....

Thanks Sky for correcting me, and yes, I also hope that the lawsuit will sort the whole shebang out.

I'm pretty sure they kept the original sticks cause it costs more to make new ones and they wanna keep production costs down I assume. Sadly this doesn't help the drift problem whatsoever but what can we do about it. I just don't get why Nintendo made the hardware so susceptible for it malfunctioning due to the simplest thing such as the stick getting dirty. At least its kinda an easy fix.

god that is awful. it really is like the black mark on an otherwise outstanding system. My pro controller recently started drifting but I have had it for around 2 years. The two joycons that I most recently purchased (I have like 10 of them now for various reasons, mainly replacing to get rid of drift) have not had many noticeable issues and they have been used very heavily. It seems** like it's gotten a little better... but wow I cannot imagine having a switch lite and it start drifting - I would be so upset.
