I'm sure you're aware of tablets that can be turned into a computer simply by slotting them into their keyboards. Do you have one? what are your thoughts? Or would you much rather have a tablet by itself?

My little brother has one. They're so cool! <3

I think it's pretty neat. Sometimes you might need to use the keyboard (I hate using the on-screen one) xD

As cool as it can be, I think it's impractical as you have two separate screens for nothing else but looks and money. I would rather buy a laptop with a touch screen and being able to twist it under the keyboard, like this:
_| normal

_
- Twisted for almost 360 degrees.

I hate using on-screen keyboards because I've been cursed with normal-sized fingers :hilarious: , but I think tablets are kinda pointless too. I don't have one. Cool though - I thought the closest thing to this was this. :p

That must be great, because at least, you won't have to deal with iOS and Android's painful ways to make you type (same as @Spinnerweb, I can't write properly on my tablet, or it takes me forever...). But, honestly, I'd simply prefer buy an USB keyboard for my tablet, because most of the tablet computers are expensive in France (Tell me what's not expensive in France)...

I can type short sentences just fine on my tablet. If I have to send a long email or something, I'd prefer to use a physical keyboard either it be connected to my tablet or from my computer. The biggest problem that I have with on-screen keyboards on tablets is the auto-correct feature. Still, I'm perfectly happy without the keyboard accessory for my tablet.

I have slender fingers and the keys on my iPad are just fine, so Inget along with just the tablet by itself, no keyboard. It'd be nice to having one, but coming from someone who has not touched a regular computer in years, it might take a while to get adjusted to.

I use to have one but i sell it to buy a Machintosh that ended up breaking by some days later but they are not bad at all i like how they are half tablet and half computers.

Can a tablet be hooked up to a keyboard if it didn't originally have one?

I think they're completely irrelevant.

It's such a stupid idea; if you want to have a tablet, get a tablet. If you want a keyboard and mouse, get a laptop or a desktop. If you don't have enough money for both chances are you either don't need both or already have a smartphone.

I've never understood people that purchase such things. It's their money and they can do what they want with it but I would never buy one even if it was extraordinarily cheap.

I completely agree with Nanamine. I first think that tablets are useless, especially since most people who buy one already have a smartphone. I mean, they are something between an oversized smartphone without the "phone" part and an unusable computer that can not do what we'd want to do with a computer.

But the fact they are now "transformable into a PC" really means "ok, we're useless and PC are better so what about we tell you we are PC so you buy us ?" in my opinion.

So yeah, I have 3 laptops, no tablet and while the "3 laptops" part might change, the "no tablet" part is probably going to stay the same for a while.

Thanks! I thought for a while I wasn't intelligent enough while using certain programs work: the simplest thing WON'T happen
I was angry until I decided to come here and see if tablets REALLY could do what Laptops do.But now I know... thanks again but now I need a use for this tablet...

I have a keyboard case for my tablet. It's better than typing on the crappy onscreen keyboard but only if I am typing longer texts otherwise the onscreen keyboard will suffice.

My tablet killed my Game maker.... I NEED a laptop, it won't run the ONLY reason I got it....

I like the idea of physical computers. Tablets should stay as tablets imo. I would buy a laptop over a tablet computer because of many many reasons.

But It's a cool invention. I hope someone invents a tiny cute one. ^^
