Hey guys! I need some help. My boyfriend's birthday is coming up, and I want to make a card for him. He LOVES games, and I always see him playing League of Legends. I don't understand the game well, and I feel like a good understanding of the way the game works will give me better ideas of illustrations for his birthday card. If it helps, I know he used to main Teemo. Not sure who he mains now, if anyone. But... can you give me insight so I can make the best card yet?

Now, the game is known as a 'MOBA'. Which stands for Multiplayer Online Battle Arena.
The most common mode of play is '5 versus 5'.
It pits two teams up again each other. Each with 5 players on a team. And there is 3 lanes which players can control. The goal is to 'push' each lane, destroy the minions and towers owned by the other team, in each specific lane. All the way to the enemy's core/base.

The 5v5 map looks like this:

Now, the most common way people play is 2 players in the top lane, 2 in the bottom, and 1 in the middle lane. At times, all 5 players are against all 5 opponents, which are known as 'team fights'.

The 'roles' in the game are like most games. Warriors/Tanks, Supports/Healers, Assassins/Damage, and so on. A big part of the game is having a good team dynamic/chemistry so you all work well together class/role-wise.

Something you can include in a card, for example, is the phrase: 'You pushed your way to my core' or find a way to use the terms 'jungle' (when you build up your level/stats by defeating minions in the forest area of map, instead of fighting players). and 'gank/ganking' (when you ambush, basically).

Yes it did! It taught me a lot- both about the game, and how I can use it both aesthetically and in the words themselves. I do have a question though... Are all minions bad? I've watched him play and didn't understand, but some were good because they were on the team or something I think he said? I didn't really get it ><

Ah! Okay, so, each team has minions spawning continuously throughout the game. Basically to help push the lanes forward. Balance and stuff.
If you destroy a keep of the opposite teams', you then start spawning super minions. Which are stronger!
 
I see! So another thing I could say is 'I want to be your super minion'? I'm still trying to merge the push to the core with jungle xD
 
Maybe something like...
'I'd 'Draft Pick' you any day.'
Draft pick is when you choose a champion to play, one at a time. Kind of like Captains in Gym glass choosing their teammates.

Kinda cheesy, but ehhh, it's a card. It should be, in my opinion! :p

Cheesy isn't bad in my opinion. He's rather used to me being corny, I think.
