After you expand your house twice (I think) you get access to what will give you all the bells you need-The island! Once at the island, ask lloid for some tools. With the tools get rid of all the plant life on the island EXCEPT the trees that are growing on the sand. The trees growing on the sand are your key to victory!
Next, you want to change your time to 7:00PM. Once the time is set go to the island. When you get to the island borrow a bug net from lloid. Then You will see Beetles on the trees in the sand. If you see them, You did it right!
Finally, Catch the Beetles! You will need to sneak up on them to catch them. Selling these beetles gives you lots of bells. Here are the prices for each beetle: Cyclomantis Stag is 8,000 , Golden Stag is 12,000 , Goliath Beetle is 6,000 , Horned Atlas 8,000 , Horned Elephant 8,000 , and finally the Horned Hercules is 12,000 Bells.
Also, There are sharks you can catch but I dont remember how much those are worth.
Overall the island is great for getting bells!

I'm surprised there wasn't a comment already, this is very helpful to new Animal Crossing: New Leaf players, especially if they want to upgrade their house fast and get all of that cool furniture for their house. It definitely saves a lot of time and it's not as boring as shaking trees 24/7.

Yep, it is a very neat method if you want to get bells fast in New Leaf. Though going to the island and catching bugs and fish becomes pretty repetitive and quite boring. It still gives you the fastest way to get bells so far, so you can't really complain about that! :D

I have to agree with you , the island seems like the best place to get up the bells for just about anything in the game. I find that I get a lot of bells from a good bit of the fish and bugs on the island rather it be diving for the fish or just using the fishing pole to catch them. I also like the fact that if you stay long enough on the island you get a tan lol.
