Imagine a world, where you never went to sleep. lmao now stop cuz that be dumb

Ima do an experiment, how long can I go without sleep?? Will edit this too. I started documenting this experiment at hour 33 which explains the lack of detail before. Basically I've played Pokemon Y since i woke up and it has been pulling me through. Do your own experiment! How long can YOU stay up?

Hour 1: May 24, 1pm PST, woke up

Hour 33: May 25, 10:26pm PST, sweating a little, face feels hot and sticky, legs are sore, really hungry and thirsty all day, headache and tired but not sleepy surprisingly.

Hour 36: May 26, 1:16am PST, well nothing is changed except I'm noticing how exhuasted and sore my legs and body is. Now that I'm doing nothing, should play games or something. Also it's getting harder to think and like formulate thoughts into words as I'm typing.

Hmm, good luck!

I'll do this when I get Mario Kart 8 :angelic:

That is the ultimate struggle. I mean, I stay up very late but I don't think I could go that long without sleep. My body would just pass out. I need to feel rejuvenated. I guess you might as well try it while you're young! :) #YOLO

I almost was able to pull off no sleep for 2 weeks back in October 2013. During that 2 week period, I got about a total of 6 hours of sleep from little naps throughout that time. Don't ever try to do that, anyone. Trust me, it's not fun.

That's why I take a sleeping pill. I take other meds that stimulate my brain way too much to even sit still, that I'm guaranteed to probably not even close my eyes. What sucks about it is, even if i just want to go to sleep I can't.

So yeah, 2 weeks is my record, since the 6 hours is just totaling up every moment where I dozed off for 5-10 minutes, but I wouldn't really count it.

Well, good luck to anyone who tries this :panda: But stop if it's damaging you, it's just an experiment!

I wasn't able to sleep for a single minute for three consecutive nights during my exams. I just wouldn't be able to fall asleep. It was like a nightmare in reverse. I even thought of getting sleeping pills

In the end I found a sort of solution - I would pretend I was asleep. I would roll my eyeballs around under my closed eyes like someone dreaming and in the end I'd finally be able to sleep for an hour or two. :p

Lack of sleep causes tiredness, silliness, ravenous hunger and whatnot and it's unhealthy. Don't try this at home, kids!

I have already done this once, when playing Super Smash Bros Melee. But my parents came and they shut off the GameCube...
But, if I can, I'll retry to do it on my computer.

What's the purpose of doing this? You'll only end up doing damage to your health! No encouragement from me on this - sorry, but it's just plain foolish.

I think it can also cause hallucinations if you're lacking that much sleep. Maybe it was just me, but I think it's very well a possibility.

Overall, yes, it's unhealthy. Nobody should pull all nighters on a regular basis.

Plus, I think I once heard that being sleep deprived can actually kill you.

2 weeks? I'm not saying you're lying, but I find that really hard to believe.

My record is probably just a little over two days, and that's from playing games with friends all day/night long. It quickly catches up to me though and I end up sleeping for like 14-16hrs.

Haha, oh man :rotfl: What a sudden end :hilarious:

It can. I found your 2-week record to be unbelievable until I read the 6-hour bit. Even then, I bet it wasn't fun.

Plants and microorganisms, otherwise known as "things without brains," have dormant states that are very similar to sleep, which kind of puts doubt on the whole "sleep is good for the brain" theory. Then there's the fact that scientists have found certain humans who can go without sleep with no ill effects. There's even one dude who claims he hasn't slept a wink in 33 years.
In fact, all of these theories kind of went out the window when researchers discovered a gene mutation that allows people to sleep two to four hours a night without any adverse effects at all. So, is sleep useless, then?

I'm sure it could be possible to never go to sleep. But only of you're special enough. ;)

My longest record was only from 7:30 AM to 2:30 AM (check last post).
So, if I was to retry, I wouldn't go far anyway.

Yep, couldn't stop playing, then, I saw my mother saying: "It's 2:30 AM. Maybe it's time for you to sleep, right?".

Read the rest of it. I take medication, and it makes it impossible for me to sleep without a sleeping pill. And I dozed off off and on for a total of about 6 hours. So yes, I did stay up for 2 weeks. It was not fun.

The world record is 11 days.

I wouldn't trust my health to a blurb I read on CRACKED :wacky:
Aw. You ruined my imagination. Good thing I don't frequently read much of it. (like the last thing I read on Cracked was that Angry Birds was just a reskin of a medieval styled game and Ms. Pac Man was bought from some kid by Namco or something like that and those were the only other things I read)

Doesn't mean it's not possible. I bet that person wasn't on prescription medication for ADHD and related disorders like I am. Trust me, I wanted to go to sleep, and probably could've if I didn't take meds, but I couldn't because of those darn meds.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not claiming that you aren't telling the truth at all, it's just that even with being under medication, I've never heard of anyone being awake for 2 weeks straight. Even in actual sleep experiments, I've never heard of anyone lasting that long.

Well I am behind 100% honest here, just saying. -_-

And I think you're forgetting about the 6 hour total of dozing off. And there comes the fact I take more than one type of meds, so that probably helps. And the fact I practically live my life on the iPad.

If you knew me in real life, you could also ask both my parents, my grandparents, and my psychiatrist, and they'd say the same thing.

I believe that you believe what you are saying.

Looking at it objectively however, it's beyond reasonable to say that your experience was embellished for more reasons than I care to get into here. Just because I think you statement is exaggerated though, doesn't mean I think you're a liar - I don't, I want to be clear.

We'll just agree to disagree. :)
