So, before I dive in to this, here's this: http://kotaku.com/how-to-create-a-convincing-fake-smash-bros-rayman-leak-1685954159

It's fake. It's 100% fake. There is no room in this thread to tell me how real this is, because it's not real. The person who made it explained how he did this, and it's fake. But now I'm here to tell you what I think will come of this.

  1. Rayman was rumored for Smash 4. Instead, he got a trophy. It's better than no appearance at all, right?
  2. So then, people were confused as to why he got a trophy in the first place. A Ubisoft character in Smash? What!?
  3. But even after it was confirmed Rayman wouldn't be in Smash 4, he was still getting a lot of hype from the fanbase of Smash.
  4. It started to die down..so then the leak happened. The infamous picture featuring Rayman (and Mewtwo already?) in Smash as not only a trophy, but a playable character.
  5. This picture was on 4Chan before it was created in the video everyone has come to know now.

So what happens now? Well, it's easy. Look at the hype. Even people that knew it was fake wanted to believe it. Rayman's a loved character, and owned by Ubisoft or not, it's a real possibility. Even more so now.

While I'm leaning towards the thought that Nintendo was behind this, I'm not certain. But it doesn't matter if they were or not. The hype surrounding this character is 100% real, and this now becomes a REAL possibility as future DLC.

So, what do you think? Was this all a reaction test to see if people wanted Rayman as a character, or was this just a Rayman/Ubisoft fan creating a fake picture to act like it was a real leak?

The first option makes more sense to me, but who knows, right? I want to know what you think.

He is not real but the Mewto is real and is coming out in march

Well..yes..I realize this.. .-. Did you read my post though..?

Rayman is a thing but was he big in Japan? Nintendo has to think about it's two main audiences, a well received character over at NA might be regarded as a waste of a slot in Japan.

Of this, I'm not sure. I would like to think so but you're right, I think he's a bigger thing over here in NA. But you gotta think, they also took a risk in Melee for NA and put Fire Emblem characters in it, when the games had never been released in NA..so sometimes, taking risks like these can pay off. :)

I very highly doubt that Nintendo was behind this, as it's pretty unlikely for Nintendo to be backing up a Ubisoft character in a Nintendo-based game.
The reason why it looked so real was because the video creator had some really nifty photo-editing skills, which he used to make it look ultra-realistic.
However, if he is indeed confirmed sometime, I wouldn't be surprised. Snake made an appearance in SSBB, and he's a Konami character.

I don't think it's real. Sakurai said he wasn't adding anymore characters, but again, he said Melee was the last game once..... I think that it could be possible, but I couldn't see Raymen throwing his hand around...... I wouldn't mind, but I'd prefer not.

There is a harsh possibility in the future of that ever happening but I think I highly doubt such thing happening though I personally think that it might be a good idea . There is already enough factors that would lower the chances but it all depends . I wouldn't really mind but it would just look kinda weird to me to see rayman in the Smash roster 0.0
