With the recent release of the new Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon gameplay trailer we've gotten a lot of shocking and exciting news. News including Z moves, Pokemon Ride, Island Trials and last but not least Alolan forms for old Pokemon such as Ninetails, Sandslash, and Exeggutor.
The last bit of information has gotten a lot of trainers wondering "What other Pokemon will get alolan forms?" Trainers have also noticed that so far only generation 1 Pokemon have gotten this new Alolan form. The answer to these questions is actually pretty simple if you know about the historical connection between Japan and Hawaii. From the various trailers we've been seeing a story of a Japanese kid moving to Hawaii unfold. This is done on purpose by the Pokemon company in order to mirror the plot of how our new main character moved from Kanto(Japan) to Alola(Hawaii). A little research will outline how these two locations are linked. In the 1800s there was a substantial amount of Japanese people that immigrated to Hawaii. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_in_Hawaii Ever since this first immigration Japanese people have been arriving in Hawaii more and more. So much so that Japanese people make up the second highest number of people living in Hawaii.
Seeing the massive number of Japanese immigrants in Hawaii you would guess that a lot of native Japanese wildlife would be brought over to Hawaii throughout the years and you would be right. Because Pokemon Sun and Moon is meant to mimic this real life history you could also guess that since a lot of immigrants from Kanto would bring their native Kanto Pokemon to Alola that only Kanto Pokemon would have adapted to Alolas environment and created these Alolan forms we see today. This combined with the fact that Pokemon Sun and Moon are the two games that gamefreak wants to use to celebrate Pokemons 20th anniversary since Gen 1 can only mean that they want only Gen 1 Pokemon to get Alolan forms.
