Each character is going to have strengths and weaknesses. For example Little Mac is great on the ground but terrible in the air. But will this lead to a Rock Paper Scissors gameplay? I think it could lead to that but the game is probably to complex for that and it wouldn't be fair if there was disadvantages. Each character needs to be used wisely in order to master their styles. For instance a character with only melee moves is much different from a projectile user or the Villager plays differently from Peach.

Here's the cast
Mario
Luigi
Peach
Bowser
Fox
Pit
Diddy Kong
Donkey Kong
Olimar
Link
Toon Link
Sheik
Zelda
Pikachu
Charizard
Greninja
Lucario
Little Mac
Wii Fit Trainer
Villager
Sonic
Mega Man
Samus
Zero Suit Samus
King Dedede
Kirby
Yoshi
Marth

But will this lead to a Rock Paper Scissors gameplay? No. All you need to do is identify weaknesses of the character and put them in a bad spot. Why am I saying this? Hype really. But most of the time you should play as fast as you can and try to fight based on what goes on. Know your opponent's strategy.

I think that the cast is awesome. As for Rock Paper Scissors thing you're thinking, I don't think it will still exist in Wi-Fi Battles, since each player will try to smash without thinking that much about if your character's weak in air, or things like that (except for the 'Battle For Glory' Mode).

And, it still adds some special characteristics to each character, therefore balancing them instead of under/overpowering them.

I agree with what you said about the Rock Paper Scissors concept, Little Mac is horrible in the air, but an amazing substitute in the ground. I think this roster, is shaping up to be the best yet (IMO). I love how characters like Zero Suit Samus and Sheik gets their individual moveset.

And what's great is the fact that they made Zelda or Zero Suit Samus stronger (compared to Brawl), and it now makes all characters equal about power. The only thing that I find exaggerated is Little Mac's One-Hit KO thingy (that's clearly overpowered).

i like it ! it just makes everything much funner and challenging and i like that ! we will have to a**** a characters abilities before battle :p not that i will :p hehe

That's unfair, but after all, this feature is disabled when playing online ! I guess that you'll KO every single character in the game without that much trouble that way ! But personally, I want to have a deeper look at this feature (of course not to cheat against Level-9 CPUs ;) !)

If Pit still gets his reflective shield he can reflect the 1-HIT-KO move right back the other way at his ally killing them hehe!:cat: I love doing that as i play Pit their ally gets so angry when i reflect the attack and he hurts his own ally even killing them sometimes :D

Woah, really. I've never really gotten into Pit, he seemed like an awesome character in Brawl though! I'm really psyched for the "For Glory" and "For Fun" modes, too. I like how your win and losses are recorded and you even get ranked!

Little Mac must have a big enough weakness (no projectiles, weak in the air) in order to have a big enough signature move.

I liked Pit. His Shield was OP and could defend real well against everything. I believe it works like a cape to physical attacks and Din's Fire (Zelda's side B) would not be effective and you get a neat "nice try" sound effect out of Pit if it works successfully. It's a shame he can't glide because I got some fun out of it. Pit's side B in Brawl however was 100% spam though. You really don't need two reflecting moves.
Will Kirby copy special powers like LM's meter or Lucario's Aura?

I have to agree with everything your saying actually.! I don't think it will end up like a rock paper scissors match at all. Its going to be all over the place I must admit though... Still I think it will be well made to play!

I like the idea of strengths and weaknesses for characters.
It gives more diversity and strategy.
It seems like a great idea to me!
It could get annoying at times, though...

It sounds like Pokemon :p learn about your opponents strategy :p

I doubt it's going to go quite to the street fighter level with 'hard' picks or counters against some characters even in the competitive scenes. Still I wouldn't be surprised if some characters do better against others
In purely Wi-Fi battles I have a feeling that in most cases the skill gap between the two places will overcome any counters or relative disadvantages a certain character would face against another

But doesn't tiers still come into the category not just strength and weaknesses. i.e. Palutena is OP while in a different case Sonic vs Mario. Sonic is quick and can combo pretty well but his attaks are light while Mario's attack are quite balanced and can KO a little easier.

Kirby will likely copy whatever "Basic Special" a character has, as he always has. I can see it copying an altered Special due to equipment though. As for Tiers... They've always been total BS, but yet they are still there. We won't know how characters fit in the tier list until the game is out and whoever decides that places them somewhere on the list. We just have to wait... Like we all have been anyways.
