SSB for Wii U The Wii U version can have 8 characters. At once

So it has been announced that you can have up to 8 characters fighting at once.

Obviously this will be for local function only.

It didn't say how many players you can have though, but I'm assuming with the new GameCube port you can have 4 Gc remotes and 4 wii remotes at once

It is gonna be epic. My cousins beg about who's turn it is when we played brawl but with this, THIS IS THE SOLUTION TO ALL MY HEADACHES

I honestly think 8 People is way too insane! That's way too many people to keep track of in the heat of battle! Especially against 8 Level 9 CPU's . I just think it would be crazy. On the plus side, I would never have to worry about the "who's gonna sit out this round" problem ever again!

It has been confirmed how the maximum amount of controllers there can be on all at once:
Wii U Gamepad: (1)

Wii U Pro Controller(s): (7)
Nintendo 3DS: (8)
GameCube Controller(s): (8)
I think overtime after an update the 8-player Smash will be available online with friends.

Having eight players in an arena can be very intense and people wouldnt even know who is who, in the other hand the problem of having to stay out of a battle because theres no more space is solved.

Also, playing 8 player smash online is too much, it is going to be horrible if one person has bad internet

Well, Nintendo has made bigger stages made for 8 Player Smash, like Big Battlefield. This will give characters more space to move around during the fight. I would imagine that 8 Player Smash online would make the game lag so much.
