Some of you have most likely played The World Ends with You. There's going to be an animation in 2021 and we got our first debut trailer today thanks to Anime Expo Lite. It confirmed that members of the game's development team is involved with the animation.

It looks decent. I played the game on DS years back, but there was a point when I hit a wall of difficulty and lost interest. I remember liking its art style, and that will live on in the anime from what I can see. The music was great too and that composer is on board as well, so this should be cool too.

It looks really cool! I'll add it to my list for the future, would you reccommend playing the ds game?
I feel like it would be way more enjoyable if you played the games

looks very cool, i hope that the story doesnt advance too fast like it tend to happen in too many animes based on RPGs

I'm hoping the animation has an engaging story and cool visuals

The switch version I can say is pretty damn good imo. It's very unique in a good way.

I really enjoy the story of the game so I can't wait for this to come out. Hopefully I'll have finished the game by then haha!

I haven't finished the game yet, but there are some things I'm not sure how they'll do it. For example,
One of the first goals is to save the moai head or something similar to that. In the game you had to hear the thoughts of people, and you had to keep doing that until you find one that give you the answer. In the anime, Neku might just hear a thought and be like "Hey we have to save the moai." I really hope they don't do something like that.
I'll watch the anime when it comes out, but I'll be weary about thing like this.

I haven't heard about TWEWY in a REALLY long time, so this is really surprising for me. I haven't actually played the games when I heard about Kingdom Hearts (I don't think I was a fan of the concept I think.) but now it's just something that I want to sink my teeth into.

Another reason to love Square-Enix!

New trailer dropped with a release window, April 2021. Looks like their aiming to air the anime and have it finished by the time the new game comes out, likely to serve as a story refresher or an easy way for new fans to dig into the new game?

And now we have the opening theme:

It's set to air in Japan on April 9th, 2021 at 1:25am JPT. New episodes are going to air on MBS / TBS weekly. A special program broadcast will air on April 2nd.

I think I'll rather play the game before watching the animation tbh :monkey:

I kinda like this tbh, the animation is really cool and fluid as well!

I guess this also gives me a date to finish the game by, I'll most likely watch it as it airs as long as I finish it beforehand ^^

form what i can tell from this trailer , my feelings on this anime are that it is going to be a good r ide.
i like the looks of this , will be a nice adventure anime to watch.
i am looking forward to this anime it has some potential.
the game it is based on is quite well recieved so it will have quite the viewer base when it airs.
it would be ideal if it can release this year but next year is ok timing too.

Interesting, so is is this the original game's story? I never played it but I heard it was good. And I know they ported it to switch and are making a sequel too. The gameplay looks... unique but I don't think it's my cup of tea. I would watch the anime for the story.

its likely the games original base story.
but with a lot of anime based off of things it can surprise.
where more stuff not seen in original work is seen.
like with higurashi new anime with scenes not seen in original anime or games.
that is one of the fun factor of anime based off of games .

To be honest I never played this series. It just went over my head. Reminds me of Devil Survivor 1 with the story and I wasn't that into the intro. I haven't tried this game but I'm sure there's a charm to it I'm missing. The most I know is in the Dream Drop Distance demo for 3DS features Neku in Traverse Town. So I can only hope if there was more Square Enix characters in the next chapter of KH where he's playable or a support character when using specials or AI player I might try it. Then again if the animation is more appealing to me than the intro I might as well get the game for the Switch or DS depending on how the controls work and my pros/cons.
