The Zelda movie that almost was (2007)

So little do some people know that their was almost a Legend of Zelda movie, and today it would be almost 11 years old. Unlike the Super Mario Bros movie it wouldent have been live action, but rather it would have been fully CG. The movie didn't get very far, however their was some work put into it before it was scrapped.

The movie wasn't Nintendos idea, but rather it was an idea pitched to Nintendo by the team that worked on the TMNT movie, a movie with some very mixed oppinons. The movie wasn't just pitched as an idea, but the team infact made a video of the movie and its fully fleshed out. It shows the main characters like Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf. And it even shows some monsters which do kindof look cool, but not in typical zelda style.

It weird to think that this movie was almost a thing as of now it could of either been known for being a huge failure for Zelda fans, or perhaps a start for the Nintendo CG universe. Either way, with all of the rumors of Nintendo movies and TV series on their way, keep in mind "Rumors", perhaps its for the best this wasn't made. So let me know what you think. Would you have liked to have seen what could have been?

No wonder it never was. I'm glad this never became a reality, it looks absolutely trash and doesn't resemble the source material in any way, shape or form.

If Zelda is to have a movie, it'd be only good if it was made in-house by Nintendo themselves.

I agree with DANKYO on this one, they made Link look like some sort of edgy teen that was like "But Mooooooom/Treeeeeeeeeee...do I have to save the world?" Ganondorf is on a whole 'nother level of stupidity, like whoa. He looks like a Disney Prince, and not in a good way. Zelda's design is okay, I guess. Nothing too bad for her, except for the fact that she should have a rapier and not a dagger thingy.

This does look like it would suck. I would probably watch it, but a Zelda movie would be better in the Twilight Princess/Skyward Sword style. Plus if it were to be good it would probably be offered as interactive on the eShop. I don't know if this would count as a movie or a game, but it would definitely add the adventure aspect that makes Zelda good. Now after thinking about it, done like the Hyrule Warriors cutscenes with choices for you to make would probably be the best.

Hah, Links face looks like the female commander in the Wreck It Ralph movie. Anyway, I think it would be good, maybe if they partnered w/Pixar or Disney, but I think Link's stories throughout the games could be make some good movies. Or if not full movies, some shorts, you know, like the short vids they make. (off topic a bit but the Cloudy... one is my fave)

I think that they may get back to this idea after the massive success of BoTW. I have heard rumors for years of Nintendo movies being in the works with Sony, and it is looking more and more likely with Butch Hartman talking about a Nintendo TV show and a Nintendo-themed world opening in Universal Studios
