I started playing TF2 back in 2008 and loved it for years. I'm pretty sure my six-year stint with the game saw me spending time with every class. There was nothing like it, really. It was some of the greatest fun I've ever had in my whole life. I used to hang out on a low gravity server that ran the Cyberpunk map 24/7, and it was beautiful. I was there when Valve cracked down on idling programs and gave out the halo to honest players, and had some giggles to myself when I downloaded a skin that replaced the halo with a bright, glowing rude word. I had a blast annihilating the waves of bad players and Call of Duty kids when the game went free to play.
But then the community went south. If it wasn't the playerbase itself I didn't care for, then it was how often my team would be a letdown. The list of weapons had grown too vast. The great balance that existed before just didn't anymore. It became an endless sea of cosmetics and weapons that were almost always clear upgrades. It became a shell of what it was. And then, ultimately, after an admittedly really good six years with the game, I just stopped. I don't know anything about this new update, but I can't hate TF2. It had great longevity and, I guess, still does. Just not my kind of game anymore. I'll miss you, TF2, buddy. See you, space cowboy.
