I want to buy Death Stranding, but I can't get it immediately, or more so, I shouldn't. While I wait though, those you who've been lucky enough to get your hands on the title, how do you feel about the game so far? And what was your first opinion of it? Was your controller baby an annoyance?

I'd totally get it if I wasn't swamped with Uni work
I don't know if you watch SomeOrdinaryGamers, but he said it best in my opinion. It's not a game for everyone - it's a walking simulator and a slow burn, but in a good way. Planning out a route is pretty complex - you need to consider any necessary equipment, the cargo's weight (too much and Sam could topple over), terrain, etc. Combat isn't all that necessary either, in fact it looks very basic from what I've seen in streams. I can see why Death Stranding would sound boring to people who prefer fast-paced games, but I don't mind slowness.
P.S. That whole thing about players being able to help each other out (a bit like Dark Souls imo) sounds neat. You arrive at a cliff and guess what's waiting for you? A ladder left behind by another player!

I actually did come across that video, and I thought that was a cool mechanic, too.

I've played a bit so far and I can say that it is definitely a walking simulator, and a bit boring in that regard, that much is definitely true. But if you want to get your mind blown by some really crazy story and narrative, then get it. Even though the gameplay can get a little stale at times, it does pick up as the game goes on and I was just totally stunned by some of the story details.

It's mental.

Kojima is smoking some serious stuff, really.

It's a fantastic game if you don't mind slower paced sorta thinking games. If you enjoy Kojima's stuff then you'd like it just the same. It's supposed to be compared to films, not games. It is what we originally thought it was, art, not a video game.
