Hello lovely Pedians! Since I have decided to go on a mini posting spree for that sweet, sweet pc, I
have decided to give some of my opinions about the switch a little more than two years in, as well as see your opinions as well! I was honestly surprised some kind of thread like this hasn't been made yet, but now it shall! \o/
I haven't really picked up Joker yet, seeing as I am kind of broke, lol. However, a lot of the stuff that was shown during his gameplay trailer looks exciting for messing around with! Besides the goofy stuff such as Joker Gun Mashups, he looks like a pretty viable character, and also is nice fan service coming with Mementos as a stage and some great songs. Thus, even though before I was a little weary about getting the fighter's pass, I am now 100 on board with it.
So what are your thoughts? Do you still have the same opinions, or have they changed a little bit?
P.S. Joker Gun Mashups With Kirby exist too.
P.S.S Prefix should be changed to SSB Ultimate

I myself haven’t gotten a Joker or the Fighter’s Pass yet, and I don’t really intend to as of this moment in time.

I feel like ordering it now would be kinda a waste of money. After all, I don’t want to spend money on it, only to later find out I get really lame Fighters. I’ll most likely wait until I see a decent character that I really want, and buy it separately. So yea, I don’t think it’s really worth it, but that’s just me, lol

I’ve gotten the Fighter’s Pass, and I’ve gotta say I’ve never played a Persona game myself, but he not only makes me want to play Persona, but makes me want to main him. But, let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. Let’s see where I think he fits on the tier list (in my opinion). I would say Joker without Arsenè (his Persona), he’s A tier because he has a pretty good recovery, he’s quick, his aerials are decent, they do a decent amount of damage, some of them kill, and combo very easily. His DAir looks like it would spike, but it doesn’t, we’ll come back to this later. Now WITH Arsenè (his Persona) he’s a freakin’ GOD (SSS tier/Joker With Arsenè tier). His aerials get stronger and/or improved in every way and his specials get a lot stronger and in some cases even changed! His neutral special stays basically the same, but it has blue gunpowder, fires 3 shots at once, and if you time it just right while someone’s off of the stage and you do a downwards gun shot (with Arsenè (his Persona)) and it SPIKES!!! Now his side special launches and does more damage. That’s it. It just launches and does more damage initially and over time. That was a little bit over reactive, Nintendo! But hey, it’s Nintendo, what do you expect? Let’s give them a break and move on to his up special. His grappling hook goes bye-bye. He now has Wings Of Rebellion, which launches Joker with Arsenè up, similar to Ridley’s up special, but does no damage has less starting and end lag, and you have invincibility frames at the beginning of the move. His down special gets changed from a weak counter that fills up the Persona meter thingy into a full on counter AND reflect (not unlike Paulutena’s) with Arsenè that has a long lasting hitbox and the hitbox extends all around Joker!! His DAir spikes with Arsenè too. And his aerials now have TONS of range (even more than what he did before), deal WAY more damage, and WAY more knock back. This also goes for his smash attacks and tilts (instead of getting more range with his tilts, he gets faster tilts as well as what I said before). His final smash is All-Out-Attack that on startup, Joker rushes forward and if you miss the opponent or they go in the opposite direction, don’t worry, tilt the left stick in the opposite direction and Joker will too, although you can only do it once. Then once it lands, Joker and gang do.... well.... exactly what the name implies- an all out attack where they brutally attack opponents hit. If Joker were to get an instakill from the final smash on the opponent’s last stock and they’re the last one left (in team or FFA), it’ll automatically go to the victory screen. So with all of that out of the way, I would put Joker as a whole (and trust me this was a really hard decision to make because of him on his own really playing like Shiek) at mid-S tier on the tier list. So yes, I really think FP is worth it because Joker is pretty good and if you really like Smash and you really wanna 100% the game, you gotta technically get all of the DLC in order to do so. Plus it’s really fun to play as characters that are only exclusive for people who wanna spend extra on a game they really like and basically say/think to/at them “HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH LOLOLOLOL,” especially when you win as sed DLC fighter. I can’t wait for the other 4 characters to be announced!

I personally plan on getting the Fighter's Pass once either
  • All the characters have been released
  • A character I really, really want comes out such as Phoenix Wright or the Palico from Monster Hunter
Joker seems cool. I'm honestly shocked he got in in the first place. He definitely seems to borrow moves from quite a lot of fighters and his down b is basically just limit break but better.

Not bad. I haven't played the Persona games so I don't know how well the adaptation was first hand but I think it has been received with positive comments regarding that, and even without understanding the game references, it still seems like a very interesting character.

I don't have money to buy the whole pass right now, so I am pretty much following @Farhaan Raja approach of waiting till the end unless something I really want makes reconsider spending for it or spending on a single purchase.
