We do have the Nintendo Direct on 2nd November, which might announce Animal Crossing Wii U. However, with the Switch already announced and about to come, And with the Wii U being a dying console, do you think Nintendo will go for it?

I think it could go either way. Nintendo could still bring out animal crossing Wii U to extend the Wii U's dying life a bit more.

I'd say it's not too late, it could be a cross platform launch like they are doing with the next Zelda game? I think this would make sense!

It is possible that Animal Crossing could be split to Wii U and the Switch, but given we never saw a real Animal Crossing game yet if ever in this generation of home consoles, I think Nintendo will end up putting it on just the Switch, because the processing differences from the two consoles may force completely different code for each console, and Nintendo just doesn't have the time for that before the Wii U dies, let's face it, the Wii U was doomed to begin with, and now we've got the Switch already replacing it, there's no hope for a Wii U port, Nintendo should stick with the superior hardware

What about the split release like sunny was saying, but with Cross-play

Well, the Wii U production is dead, that is for certain, so I must only ask why drag out the inevitable? I understand some people like the Wii U but the production is stopping soon regardless. The Switch/Direct is the next most viable (and for Nintendo profitable) solution to this in that we can do everything we could on the Wii U in an AC game however, now it can be portable as well. (Why the Switch/Direct is the best imo portable and home console).

I think it is a bit too late for Animal Crossing on the WiiU, as now there are no more first-party games coming to the WiiU. However, I do expect to see Animal Crossing on the Switch within the next 2-3 years maybe. It just seems natural that the series would be a good fit for the Switch.
