PkMn Go Trainer battles coming to Pokemon GO

Just came across some news that trainer battles will be coming to Pokemon GO. I'm not all too surprised but I'm wondering how it'll be like. Would it be fully blown battles like in the core games or something different?

Anyway, how do you feel about this and what are you expecting to see?

So, what exactly will the be like? I mean, it is a mobile game, so I guess all you really can do it tap, lol

If you can battle online, that would be cool, if it has to be nearby friends, then not so much. The whole Pokemon thing where if trainers eyes meet, they have to battle, is definately not my experience with Go. It more a case of, notice someone playing at the same time, look down, avoid eye contact and walk away as quickly as possible.
I set up an account on my husbands phone so I had someone to trade with. Hoping I can convince him to battle with me occasionally.

It sounds like there will be certain leagues you can join based on your level or something? That would be nice, so there's not level 40s fighting level 12 kids!
