As the title says, I'm trying to learn to draw in a manga style. I tried to draw some people but they don't look very good and I don't know where to start. Any tips?

Well who to start with? I suggest you draw your favorite character from what ever series he/she came from. Always be open for tutorials. (Deviant art has many tutorials that might help you out.) and reference is key. You'd want to outline the characters your including in your manga right? find (or create if need be) an image of said character(s) and think where his clothes/face/ect will face when you draw that person.

Cool! I'm not actually making a manga yet but I might someday. And I didn't know where to find good tutorials so thanks!

In the beginning my characters looked BAD, but if I had to give you advice, I'd say
  1. Learn basic shapes and catch on to the "general manga style".
  2. Copy/redraw pictures you like. Really look at pages in manga.
  3. Start experimenting. Shading, line thickness, color, when you get the basic shapes and anatomy down.
  4. When you're comfortable, ask for criticism, but don't go nuts/obsessed over it (I've learned that this is where my style came in.)
  5. I thought this was useless, but learn to draw faster. What I mean is, when I want to practice hair, I try drawing the head fast. Making sure I do it with accuracy and that I actually like it. It''ll come to you so don't worry.
  6. Draw with a light hand. A lot of people I know write with so much pressure and thick lines. I use a 0.5mm mechanical pencil.
  7. Simply, draw what you want. Anything. I want to draw goddess like women and to be honest, knowing basic/advance techniques help me draw things that I want to start and improve upon.
  8. Doodle. Any art is good art if you put your heart into it (or whatever)
  9. Something important to me, There's a difference between an Manga illustrator and an anime artist. The mangaka makes multiple instances of characters and scripts to tell a story, but an artist tries to make a perfect picture that tells all. You don't have to be perfect all the time, really quickly.
  10. We all get depressed/frustrated at some point. Just take a break.
My tactic was to get everything to look decent to where I can just focus on specifics later.
My learning wasn't configured to steps, so this is just what I feel makes sense after learning without strategy
Keep the dream alive. 頑張ってください!

I've had trouble with this kind of stuff before, but now I'm great at drawing anime/manga! AHEM, anyway, on to the advice! So, have you ever heard of Sophie-Chan? She's a YouTuber who does time-lapse drawings, which you can use as a guide! She's also recently released a manga called The Ocean of Secrets! Making a manga was her life-long dream, and she wants to inspire others by saying "Look, you can do this too, if you really try!". She has also made another book for manga, which you can find on Amazon. If you want any more "advice" from me, just ask!~
