"Little Mac is built to be a ground specialist, at the cost of being unable to do well in the air or even recover. This is gimmicky, and even has the problem of being a character who doesn't want to jump in a game built to encourage jumping. We are not off to a wonderful start, but surely, this gets handled right, right?
Yeah, sure, because this video would totally exist if it was. Big hint: it wasn't. Let me start off that Little Mac's basic stats are RIDICULOUS. Any efforts to try to overcome sudden melee are generally futile--the only way to prove otherwise is to wreck Little Mac QUICKLY, because anything less and you'll be overwhelmed, period. I need only point to clubs in Kid Icarus Uprising having to contend with clashing even when using knockback immunity powers, and you see how stupid it is that there is NO counter play in meleeing LM. That's not even getting into how LM is ridiculously fast as well, while KIU clubs are the exact opposite, and I STILL never had problems with clashing as far as mere momentum went, only taking issue with how clashing completely stops damage from each affected blow when clubs have only 2 attacks in a combo.
The response to this, as shown in the video by the opponent "skewtr", is to edgecamp LM so that his junk recovery turns the skirmish into an actual risk. This gets answered by LM, in turn, camping the center. So even though the opponent can fight back, this whole thing is still degenerate gameplay, and it leads to some ugly favoritism where LM can still break the defense by abusing the added problem that it's FORCED.
Oh, and by the way, the edgecamping is especially done to stagger the Side B, which is surprisingly capable of ending in a self-destruct. However, it's FAR from foolproof in that regard; LM can just use other attacks as I showcase, and the Side B can be positioned properly to avoid the SD in its usage anyway.
As a disclaimer, my LM is anything but impressive. There's various things that prove that in this match, and frankly, I should have been killed at 4:10 or 4:37, but no, LM has arbitrary survival ability. But this only emphasizes that LM is capable of OP stupidity for degenerate reasons. If I were able to make a balance patch for SSB4, here's what I would do to LM:
*Nerf the priority so that LM doesn't priority h4x heavies
*Reduce the damage output of the ground attacks to about 80% of the current values
*Shift the KO Punch charging to offensive charging (if you're wondering, offensive charging is only about 3/10 of defensive charging, which is just plain stupid)
*Widen the weight gaps of characters a bit, at the very least to get rid of that God awful arbitrary survival ability that lightweights have
*Nerf the Counter moves of the various characters to deal less damage, not prevent damage taken, and not have infinite knockback armor (the first one to a higher degree for things like Greninja's substitute where that plain wouldn't make sense)
*Buff the damage values of the aerials big time, since their range is too awful to pull stupidity
By the way, the second match isn't a match involving Little Mac, but it should be watched. Let's just say that thankfully Little Mac stands out in stupidity thus far. With the beeswax that unconditional flinching has pulled in the past, that's a freaking bargain.
Oh, and to the remark that Battlefield would likely get LM under control, that wouldn't surprise me, actually, but it's irrelevant; that ends up bringing about MORE Fake Balance. Seriously, stage dependency? I don't think so. That's begging for a patch."
I am against this keep in mind. Little Mac is just a really great but risky fighter. This same guy also has more opinions like saying Falco got nerfed too much and Rosalina has a problem similar to Little Mac's because she lacks creativity or Luma appears too quickly. What next? Robin complaints? Do you agree or disagree?
Heck he has all the stats for every attack on a spreadsheet. My complaint to him is he might not keep in mind hitboxes and specific strategies, move speeds, whatever.
