Ever since the announcement of the Super Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot from April 2015's Nintendo Direct, Indie company WayForward was and still is very supportive to have their little half-genie belly dancing girl named Shantae to be in Super Smash Bros. as add on content to the game's already big roster. She was considered one of the lost characters because her first game was released for the Game Boy Color back in 2002, this was the same year the Game Boy Advanced was released. She got her reboot back in 2011 in the game Shantae: Risky's Revenge. Later on they announced Shantae and the Pirate's Curse as well as Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. They are currently working on Shantae: Half-Genie Hero and the game looks AMAZING! Here are other reasons to vote for her today!

You got my vote. I have always been a big fan of the Shantae series, and I find it awesome that Wayforward is as excited of this ballot as we are. I'm not exactly sure what her move-set would be, but based on the video, she has a diverse range of options. I am really hoping for her, as well as Bayonetta, to be added as new characters.
 
To be honest I wasn't really thinking when I was voting , I put Inklings from Splatoon because I was too hype for that game +_+

I think Shantae would be awesome in Smash :D The game was really much of a popular and cool franchises that I know . You can always change you vote ... right :p
 
I'd love for Shantae to be in, but at the moment chances of that look very slim. She's not well known to the people who buy only retail games yet, and I doubt they'll bring in characters simply because they got lots of votes. To be honest I feel they already have some certain characters in mind which they'll bring in, and this ballot is just to check those characters' popularity.

Also guys, if you go to Twitter and go to the profile The_Smashter, he has tweeted custom moves for Shantae and WayForward favorited all of them.

Right-o, WayForward is extremely supportive of Shantae being in Smash, but I beg to ask these questions:
1. How much has Shantae affected Nintendo. Is she important to the company?
2. Can she be a unique fighter? Just being a popular character isnt enough.
3. What are her chances compared to other characters that are being voted for right now?

Some of these are pretty straight forward, and easy to answer. While I believe she is a good character, Im not sure if she can actually make it, with all of the other 1st party reps that are being voted for.

I highly encourage you to vote for Shantae if you wish, since it probably will shed some light on Shantae's popularity.
