In Mario Galaxy ( I can't remember if it was one or two) There was that lava/ice final world and I remember everyone was blowing up over this weird figure ontop of the canyon and I was wondering if it was ever found out what that thing was or if there was any more info about it? I'd search myself but I completely forgot the name of the world and which Mario Galaxy it was from. Any info would be a great help!
 
I may be able to help as I have played both of the Super Mari Galaxy games. Freeze/Flame was the first game and Shiver/Burn was the second do you know which one of these it was? If you are able to remember I may be tell you :).
 
Shiver burn sounds more familliar, This is probably the best picture I could find on it, apparently the game files said they were trees but they don't look like no trees lol, This is the best pic I could find that wasn't edited to fan drawn or something from a stupid creepypasta. Notice the figures ontop of the valley?

Oh there's a wikia about them now, I couldn't remember much about it just it was spooky but nobody knew what they were, then I forgot over time lol I'll give the Wikia a read through now and see what I can find out about them creepy figure thingys

It was Super Mario Galaxy 2, and apparently it was just an easter egg, no one really know why

Do you guy have a screenshot of that? I'm not sure I understand what you're talking about, is it like a cameo or something? I never played that game I'm sorry =/

I only saw it thanks to the internet, I found this on youtube, and I tried to find it myself :p

The thing on the right looks like just a blob poking its head to watch what you're doing, while the thing on the left reminds me of Bender from Futurama XD

A bit far fetched but funny once you see it!

lol I am not sure why Nintendo put this in super mario galaxy 2 but one of the theories seems likely:
Aliens that are native to the planet that mario is on atm.
