SSB for Wii U Was Nintendo really not in the right to include SSB on the 3DS?

I own the game for 3DS and I love it. It's one of the few games I play to save me from boredom. But it's come under heavy fire from other fans mainly because of the 3DS's hardware limitation prevented Ice Climbers from making a return, thus Nintendo had to cut them from the line-up to make the roster in both versions equal. Now of course, we got Roy, Lucas, and Mewtwo back and heck, even Ryu. And maybe some time in the future, we could see Solid Snake and Fox making returns too. But should Nintendo really have to exclude a great game from one console over the loss of one character? I mean, we didn't get Subspace Emissary because the clips can be viewed online and I'm sure many of you would agree that this reason alone doesn't justify the removal of what could've been the biggest and most enjoyed content in the game.

There's no reason to not have SSB4 on the 3DS. That'd be insane in my opinion, especially for just a character which cannot be on the 3ds due to its limitations  Nintendo wouldn't even make a close profit.

I seriously can't imagine if there was no SSB4 for 3ds :playful:

You replied just as expected. You found that it's a dumb reason to exclude a whole game on a console because people can't have one character. It's asinine. Nintendo can get all the flak for removing Subspace Emissary. But imagine if fans got what they wanted and the 3DS version was cancelled for release all because of one character! Game journalist sites would have a field day and AlphaOmegaSin would have fun tearing Nintendo and Smash fans a new one over such a stunt.

I agree, not having the game come out on 3DS because of 1 character would've absolutely destroyed what was a huge profit for Nintendo. Secondly, I think the release was a really smart move on their part due to the fact that the system (Wii U) itself hasn't sold very well, but the 3DS has, and to me it seems highly unlikely that even if someone was an avid fan of SSB, they wouldn't buy a console for just 1 game, although I could be wrong.

So I say, yes, I don't mind that the game is missing a character I probably wouldn't use much, because somehow in my 1 week of owning it I probably put in a good 30 hours of play into it.

Fox is already in the game, so I suppose you meant Wolf. As for Snake, considering how Konami screwed up, and fired Kojima, it's not going to happen any soon.

As for the 3DS version being criticized because of the IC not returning, I think players should at least try to understand why it's not possible. Those saying that Rosalina & Luma is the proof that the 3DS could handle the IC is wrong. R&L are controlled at the same time through player input. IC are controlled differently: one is controlled by the player, and the other is AI-controlled.
So, that means that in a 4 CPU match with only ICs, there would be 8 AIs... And I doubt the 3DS's dual-core 268MHz processor could handle this.

And for the Subspace Emissary, I agree with you. Sure, I spoiled myself the whole walkthrough when the game came out thanks to Internet (because I had no Wii system at that time), but I ended up playing the game anyway. Nintendo however, always has been touchy when it comes to streaming their content/games, so I suppose they simply didn't liked the fact that the SE was streamed online. It would have been great if the Wii U version got something like the SE instead of the boring Smash Tour.

i think its down right absurd that they would exclude the whole game just for one character, i mean its just one (well really two characters) but they've brought back other characters and are probably bring more characters so to even think about it would be insane, and they also would lose so much profit cause not everybody owns a Wii U but a ton of more people own a 3ds so i would think the 3ds game sold better instead of having to buy a whole new system just to play smash. and with who they're bringing back and who new they're bringing i am OK without Ice Climbers and tbh i didn't use them very much to begin with back in brawl days but that's just me :D

They could be using this time trying to fix the "hardware limitations" problems and release them as DLC.
