so if any of you know me, you know ive been playing resident evil revelations a lot and it also happens to be one of my biggest favorites out of all the games ive played (along with revelations 2 which i also own on switch with this one), and while the game does offer plenty of ways to challenge yourself in raid and others in campaign (notably new game on infernal, or if thats too rough then new game+ and go for an S rank all episodes which im pretty sure requires a deathless run), there is one tiny detail about this game in the beginning of the campaign im still finding to be awkward or even unnecessary...

might be surprising, but its the first ooze in the game (excluding the skippable ones in the hallways on episode 1 infernal). for whatever reason capcom decided to make this one take a lot heat to get rid of (this is especially tough when you start from scratch on infernal, a new game+ it isnt that bad), even more than the oozes you see in the game shortly thereafter. there really isnt much to say about this imo except 'what the heck capcom? does this really make sense'. i played resident evil revelations 2 and i will point out here that the first enemy in this game took a more reasonable amount of shots to beat corresponding to your difficulty than in revelations 1. has anyone else noticed this or have an idea why capcom did this in revelations 1? i mean i realize they have to make it challenging, thats ok... but this particular idea doesnt really make sense to me even knowing that.

Its probably to make the game seem more scary. The first enemy you are required to fight takes a ton of bullets? Definitely makes you a little more wary about seeing them again. And clearly it was executed well as you only noticed on the replay.
