what are the points?

On the left side of the forum home page, there is a box that shows the number of my pc, likes, posts, and points. What are the points and what do they do?
 
They're accumulations of the points Trophies give you. Trophies are milestones you get in your time on the forum, they're listed here. No actual benefit, but you can see the dates you achieved those milestones :love:
