I have finally recovered and feeling almost as good as new.
You know a random thought came to my mind,
we have all been sick in the past had to stay home from school
plus we had whined about feeling awful

but I digress, what did your parents do to help you feel better when you were sick in your childhood?

I've never been like really sick, but if you mean just a cold or something, my mom usually just says "you'll get better soon" and that's it. Not much else she can do. :p

Oh, for me. I get really sick, like high fever, and I currently get a lot of asthma attacks, up to this day. What most parents do, once my fever is unbearable and I'm in pain, I go to the doctor, when I get asthma attacks and my turbuhaler doesn't work, I get rushed to the doctor for some nebulizer time. Once I get medicine like steroids, painkillers or antibiotics, I take them regular, since I get soo accustom to my tablets routine.

My parents just made me go to school still. unless i was super unwell and unable to leave the bed.:vomit:

Just like Wayne, if I'm too sick, I won't go to school. But generally, I go to the doctor the same day, and take some antibiotics or medicaments. Note that my mother also make a special drink when I catch a cold that's not good at all, but it's very effective.

Same here, my mum always make some horrible tasting drink, but it helps me, especially with my asthma.

They took me the doctor, gave me medicine and forced me to have food although it was difficult to eat xD

Told me to stop acting like I'm sick, and get my butt ready for school  which often turned out to be true :bag:

When I was really sick, they gave me a lifelong fear of needles. I won't elaborate.

I never got to skip school simply because of 'small' sicknesses, which is basically any sickness that doesn't render you unable to get up.

Like most people here, they wouldn't really do anything unless its a big sickness. They will give me the medicine I need though.
There was this one time where I got sick and every 5 seconds my mouth will get full of saliva. Uck, remembering that makes me want to puke... :vomit: (Oh wow, a perfectly matching smiley!)

When I was little, I used to get sick a lot. I was like a magnet to stuff like strep throat, ear infections, stomach bugs, and that kind of stuff. Normally my mom would just let me stay home and rest. We'd only really go to the doctor if it was something like strep or an ear infection, since they can only be treated by a doctor, but otherwise we'd just refer to the medicine cabinet instead.

I don't get ear infections or strep anymore, nor do I get sick nearly as often as I used to, so normally we don't even have to worry about it anymore.

This sounds quite a lot like me... I always used to get sick, way more than anyone in my family. I tricked myself into thinking I was as sick as Edward VI and anxiety problems (that I also tricked myself into having) didn't help at all. It's only been a few years (I'm still young) and all these problems have vanished.

Oh yeah, the infamous medicine cabinet. Where all the paracetamol is kept.

My parents only let me stay home when a doctor says I need to stay home, other than that my parents say, just take some medicine and you will get better. I remember during PE our PE teacher was telling us the rules of the basketball game we were playing and I actually swallowed my vommit, dang that was horrible.

I would get some medicine if needed, and stay home. A lot of the time I would be on the computer all day unless my illness is head-related in which case I'd watch old cartoons on TV. :p

I've never been to the doctor for being ill, but since a few months I'm getting migraine attacks frequently :( my sight gets all weird/blurry and vague figures start to appear (it's called migraine with aura or something). About half an hour later I get bad headaches for about 5 houres, and what I do then is just finding a silent and dark chamber and wait :(. It's really stupid, since I don't have any distraction I think about the headaches the whole time, which doesn't make it any better >_<. I still don't know what the cause is, but I hope I won't be stuck with it for the rest of my life D:
