What do you expect from Pokémon Go?

( ´ ▽ ` )ノ Getting into competitive battling
Towns Folk
I've just had a long discussion with my Poke-thusiasts and we were speculating how Pokémon Go would work.
I've always thought it would be cool if they added glasses to make the Pokémon seem as if they're in the same world as us (sort of along the lines of Google Glass glasses).

I'd love it if in each city there were actual gym leaders that you could challenge (beating most people in your city/town and earning that title). It's really cool how they thought of this and I'm just hoping that it would live up to the hype that's surrounding it! :D

The only problem is I'd be a little too lazy to get up :rotfl:

If there really were gym leaders, it'd be kind of tough to decide who and anyways, who woukd actually want to be one? It would have to maybe be a spot where there's an imaginary one to make it more like the pokemon games. Also, I've never really thought about getting pokemkn go, but I suppose it might be able to encorporate itself into a running workout, which I think would be really cool.

Well the gym leader part is a mystery, but I've always thought about it as application based and people would have to battle for it. Then, to be easier on the people who would challenge that gym leader, the gym leader would select individualized teams foro each challenger (level based).

I think is a wonderful idea u can battle and make make rivals with the local people and it will be fun

Totally! And with that you can also travel around the world (or neighborhood) catching different types of Pokémon! :D

On the video for the trailer for the game, I got into a argument with someone about having different countries containing different Pokémon. And I will tell you like I told that person.

No. I am heavily against going to locations I haven't gone to before to do one thing. I live in the Bronx. Why would I travel miles to go to a city, let's say New Jersey, just to "challenge a gym" when I'm just going to head back in a few minutes? It's just a waste of time. It also puts those who do not have means of getting somewhere (for example: kids, people who don't drive, etc.) at a huge disadvantage. And before you possibly start assuming things like the person I was arguing with, no, I'm not saying we should be able to this in the comforts of our living room, but rather in the open world that we live in. I want to take a walk for 45 minutes to 3rd Ave and encounter Pokémon on my way there. It's simple, it's within my city, and I don't need to take a road trip to New Jersey just for one thing. But another thing I question, how will they implement a Gym system? Your Pokémon Go Plus bracelet notifying you of a Gym Leader which you fight in the open would be a more logical explanation.

Well, I think the problem of pokemon go will be events. Unlike their other games where you get event pokemon via wifi, it'll be pretty dismaying to not be able to get legendaries and such, but I do also believe different places will have different pokemon, but it seems unlikely that there will be a huge variety of pokemon between places. Aside from that, on Elchronics' point, I live in Saudi Arabia, and obviously I wouldn't take a plane to go to Times Square to catch a Mewtwo. Yet, I also doubt that the game will be playable here, in that i think there won't be any pokemon to be found.

@Chickenfoot Adding on about events, even if you had to get up and go somewhere, it was probably a GameStop, a BestBuy, Toys R' Us, etc. And chances are, you live near one or one is located not too far from home, going back to the 45 minute walk to 3rd Ave., which has about 3 or 4 game stores.

I get what you're trying to say here, I agree with you since I myself can't drive or go anywhere too far.:(

Back to the gym system might not have to be implemented by Nintendo themselves. I've always thought of a way where the community would get together and organize their own events and such. It would be a great way to get to know people! I don't know if we can battle other trainers yet (I mean we can battle wild Pokemon so I assume that we should have the capability to battle other trainers), but if the community gets together we can bring a sense of unity in a community. :D

Another thing I'm worried about is the in-app purchases in the game. Sure its free to play but I hope they wont make us actually buy, lets say, Pokéballs.

And I sure don't want an energy based game (like Facebook games, who plays those?) because I feel like it will really take away from the experience. I don't know it may just be me. :banghead:

I expect seeing more people outside that like Pokemon. Where I live most people do not like Pokémon (Mostly people liked it before and some people only watch the anime) I'd expect seeing people with their phones outside more. And it would be like playing Pokémon.
I don't know that's what I think.

What I want to expect is an amazing game that will motivate everyone to go out, play and have fun together! What I actually expect is an app choked full of micro-transactions and ads, with boring gameplay, annoying to use, boring at best, terrible mechanics and, most of all, heavily depended on that wristband they are releasing along that will make everyone look like a total dork to others! I hope it's the former and not the later!

Oh my goodness I have the same problem... It's nice to know that a game might bring all kinds of people together!

*pokemon battle music plays*

....or tear them apart

Oh I never thought of it that way (╯°□°)╯ I've always hated the mobile games with tons of ads, now I'm lowering my expectations because of that. But Pokémon has released a few mobile games and I don't see a problem with ads but more of the micro-transactions you said before. Let's hope that Nintendo is sensible enough to let most of the game be free and fun. :p

Niantic is making the game, who also made the game Ingress. (You should go check it out because it's pretty fun) :D I think the micro transactions will either be for in game money or rarer items. Either way the game is totally playable without paying anything. I wouldn't mind paying a little here and there for a masterball or something because I'm probably going to end up being one of those guys who takes it way too seriously lol.
