These two handhelds are currently in the most recent additions to the handheld market. What are your thoughts on each of them and the games that they offer?

I don't own a Vita. Part of that stems from my experiences with PSP. While the DS had lots of unique content, I felt that the PSP library was crowded with weak console ports. Another concern I've had with Vita is the use of exclusive pricey memory cards. But w/o owning one, I don't have enough of an informed opinion.

I don't own one either but from what I hear the Vita is much superior to the 3DS specs wise, but the game library isn't that good. Granted there are a couple good games like Persona 4 Golden, PS Vita game library pales in comparison.

On the other hand, isn't PS Vita able to act as a controller with PS4?

huh okay. Well I guess it's to be expected given that it wasn't specifically MADE for the console gaming like the Gamepad was. I personally think that all the same it's an interesting gimmick because you could just bring the Vita to a friend's house and have both Vita games AND the ability to play on a friend's PS4 with the Vita acting as a controller. Even if the execution is bad, it's better than nothing

I think given that this is a 3DS forum most people would answer '3DS' especially since it's in the 3DS Discussion section.
I don't own a Vita, but I'd like to have one very much. My PSP's my favourite handheld and there are a lot of cool-looking games on the Vita that I'd love to try; the fact that it's region-free unlike the 3DS might make Japanophiles prefer the Vita.
(Insert '3DS has a lot of good games from well-established franchises' paragraph here) :p
So I'm going to be frustratingly indecisive and say I don't really think either of them trumps the other. They're both great consoles.

As someone who's owned both systems, I highly prefer my 3DS. The massive library of games and first party titles is amazing, especially considering it's only been out 3 years.

The PS Vita is a great device by all means, but it just doesn't provide enough exclusive games to make the purchase worth it. In the 2 years since the PS Vita's launch, the ONLY game I recommend is Tearaway.

Yeah, the PS Vita may have amazing specs, but it just doesn't have enough support to make it worthwhile. I'd choose 3DS any day anyway just because I love everything Nintendo, but that's just me.

Even then there are some who'd be able to see both sides. Note how I never asked "which is better" :p Glad to see you see both sides here

yeah, and some of the PS Vita games have potential but the execution is lacking. For example, I hear Assassin's Creed 3 Liberation is glitchy lol

Both are handheld consoles but both differ completely in terms of games they offer. 3DS is more kid-friendly and relies more on solid First-party titles while the PS-Vita is much more targeted towards teenagers (adults) offering extra features, console-quality graphics, AAA titles. I like them both.

I can basically conclude from previous posts that it depends on what you're looking for. Select the system that best reflects your interests and works for you.

The Nintendo 3DS does offer some very good games. I am not familiar with the PS Vita gaming library, so I cannot say much on this.

This responses in this thread might be biased because we are on a forum centered around 3DS content, but please feel free to express your thoughts. :)

Obviously the PS Vita , since the 3D Effect on the 3ds is just a gimmick and PS Vita's operating system is much more advanced than the 3DS's operating systems ! :) and from this sentence please don't think I'm a hater.

I know I said this on another thread but I will have to go with the 3DS, seriously the PS Vita is a good handheld, the device offers many great functions but, it has gotten TERRIBLE sales in the US (West) but is at a healthy rate in Japan, because of the bad sales of the console I believe that developers in the west are going to drop their interest in the console one-by-one, the PS Vita gaming library is not that good either, I hate how it doesn't have many exclusives, most of the games I see on the PS Vita, I already played it on the PS3, games like Persona 4 Golden and Soul Sacrifice are good games but I am not gonna buy a system for just a few games and knowing that western developers are dropping it due to bad sales, I know I sound fan-girlish but I rather the 3DS due to it's wide gaming library and so many good games to come in the future, but I wish the best for the PS Vita because it would suck to see western support for the system being dropped due to bad sales.

I strongly agree with you! The "3DS Effect" is a gimmick. That is not 3D! It's just a bit of depth added to your gameplay. The system uses two different screens to trick your eyes into thinking you're seeing depth. It's cool at first, but it gets old after a while in my opinion. :p

I agree with you on the fact that the 3D effect on the 3DS is a gimmick but how is the PS Vita's operating system more advanced then the 3DS's? They are just different

This wasn't made to be a "which is better" thread, but rather "what do you think of each of them" thing.

There's no argument that Sony consoles are much more advanced specwise in general. I mean think about it, the PS Vita is able to play 1080p while the Wii U Gamepad only does 480p. Although the Wii UGamepad is different from the 3DS (obviously), let's keep in mind that the Wii U Gamepad is more advanced than the 3DS....yeah

Hmm... You're quite off-topic when saying this. While Nintendo has built their own OS for the 3DS from scratch, Sony always build their OSes upon the Linux Kernel.

As to return to the main subject...
I'd rather go for the 3DS, because of its game library, the big number of online functionalities, and the Virtual Console (Who stills supports 4 Platforms). As for the hardware level, sure the PSVita wins, but I have heard that the 'tactile' side of the Vita can be annoying on some games.

> My conclusion (opinion): I love my 3DS.

I personally thought that 3DS is by far better than Vita, well in terms of spec maybe it lost a bit
But gaming its not just about spec, the unique gameplay that 3DS can offer is by far superior than Vita
And what make it more difficult for Vita is there is few tittle that intriguing, only Persona 4 Golden for me, and if Dissidia 2 actually came to Vita

I think they are pretty similar to each others and they have the same reoutation people want them to have so i'll vote for the two of those games.
